When one driver crossed over the center line, he crashed into two oncoming vehicles, suffered from serious injuries, and caused minor to moderate injuries for the victims in Franklin County.

On January 20, 2012 at approximately 11:35 A.M., 48-year-old Russell Bercer from Bourbon, Missouri was operating a 2002 Nissan Xterra and heading northbound on Missouri Route 185 south of Meramec River in Franklin County. At said time and place, Walter Cates, age 64, from Washington, Missouri was traveling southbound in a 2006 Ford Taurus. Also at said time and place, John Woodcock, age 60, from Ballwin, Missouri was heading southbound in a 2008 Dodge Ram. Woodcock had one passenger - Paula Woodcock, age 64, from Ballwin, Missouri.

The crash occurred when Mercer crossed the center line and crashed into Cates in a head-on crash. Mercer's vehicle continued on and crashed into Woodcock also in a head-on collision. All drivers and the occupant were wearing their seatbelts at the time of this crash.

The at-fault driver, Mercer, suffered serious injuries as a result and was taken from the scene of the crash to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur, Missouri by Air Evac Helicopter. Cates suffered moderate injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash by St. Clair Ambulance to Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri. John Woodcock suffered moderate injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash to Missouri Baptist Hospital by North Crawford County Ambulance. Woodcock's passenger, Paula Woodcock, suffered minor injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash by North Crawford County Ambulance to Missouri Baptist Hospital.

Mercer's Xterra received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Certified Towing and Auto Repair of Sullivan, Missouri. Cates's Taurus received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Chuck's B & B Towing of Sullivan, Missouri. Woodcock's Dodge Ram received total damage and was towed by Chuck's B & B Towing. All drivers had driver insurance at this time.

This investigation was led by Trooper T. S. Inman.

In Pemiscot County, a man from Kennett, Missouri was left with serious injuries after the crash collision involving two teens at the US 412, Route NN intersection, 7 miles east of Kennett late Thursday afternoon.

On January 26, 2012 at approximately 4:30 p.m., Marcus Clark, age 27 and of Kennett, Missouri was operating a 1998 Dodge traveling in the northbound direction on US 412. Driver, Bethany Wyell age 16, and her passenger, Kyle Bowling age 15, are both residents of Bragg City, Missouri. Bethany was operating a 2001 Ford traveling in the eastbound direction of US 412.

At that said time and place, Bethany was traveling eastbound on US 412 as she was approaching the Route NN intersection. Traveling northbound on US 412, Clark was approaching the Route intersection as well. Clark reached the intersection of Route NN and as he failed to yield, Clark pulled into the path of Bethany and her passenger, Kyle, and collided with her vehicle.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, both teens were wearing their seat belts at the time of impact. Bethany and Kyle received moderate injuries as both were taken via ambulance to Twin Rivers Hospital for medical attention. Clark Marcus sustained serious injuries from the impact of the collision. He was not reported to be wearing his seat belt. Clark was taken by via ambulance to the Twin Rivers Hospital.

Clark's 1998 Dodge received total damages from the crash collision and was towed by MacMahon's Wrecker. Bethany's 2001 Ford also received total damages as her vehicle was towed by Hendershots towing.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of trooper, J. Van Meter, of troop E.

In Park City Utah, Sarah Burke and professional skierwrongfully dies from serious injuries due to a training accident.

On January 10, 2012, Sarah Burke, age 29 and of Squamish, British Columbia was training in the Park City Mountain Eagle Resort where she was seriously injured after a skiing accident. Burke crashed on the same super pipe where snowboarder, Kevin Pearce, was seriously injured in 2009 and sustained traumatic brain injuries. Onlookers and friends reported that Burke had completed the attempted trick fairly well, yet she still fell onto her head, but her accident did not appear to be too severe. Moments later, Burke went into cardiac arrest while she was still on the ski slope.

Sarah Burke was resuscitated and airlifted to the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, where emergency physicians reported that she had been placed in an induced coma.

On January 11th, Burke underwent neurosurgery to repair a tear in her vertebral artery. According to a statement released by neurology surgeon and publicist, Nichole Wool, on behalf of Burke's family, reported that Burke's critical condition and serious injuries resulted in irreversible damage to her brain due to the lack of oxygen and blood flow after she went into cardiac arrest.

On January 19th, Sarah Burke succumbed to her serious injuries and wrongfully died. Before her death and per request she asked that her organs and tissues to be donated. Because of her incident at which she fell was unsanctioned and hosted by Burke's sponsor, Monster Energy, she would not be covered under the insurance policy that applied to her when she completed the Canada Freestyle Ski Association. Following the day after her death, Burke's agent established a website to fundraise money towards her hospital costs that would give "a foundation to honor Sarah's legacy and promote the ideals that she valued and embodied."

Sarah Burke was a Canadian freestyle skier and pioneer of the super pipe event. Burke was a four-time Winter X Games gold medalist and gold medalist in the world championships of 2005 for the half pipe. She was lobbied in the Olympic program for the 2014 Winter Olympics and was predicted to be a medal favorite for her events.

In Camden County, two drivers were moderately injured Wednesday afternoon when the two vehicles collided head-on.

On January 25, 2012 at approximately 3:30 p.m., Steve Dodson, age 18 and of Linn Creek, Missouri was operating a 2001 Chevrolet and traveling in the westbound direction of Route Y. Deborah Crose, age 51 and of Camdenton, Missouri was operating a 2011 Ford and traveling in the eastbound direction of Route Y.

At that said time and place, Dodson was traveling westbound on Route Y, a mile and a half west of Linn Creek, Missouri and Crose was traveling eastbound on that same road. Steve Dodson was traveling at a high rate of speed when he attempted to pass another vehicle in his lane. The vehicle Dodson was attempting to pass blocked his view for the oncoming drivers in the opposite direction when he crossed the center line and struck the oncoming vehicle, Deborah Crose, in a head-on collision.

Deborah Crose and Steve Dodson both reported to sustain moderate injuries from the head-on collision. Both Crose and Dodson were transported by EMS to the Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, Missouri. A report for the Missouri State Highway Patrol states that both participating individuals in the crash were wearing their seat belts.

Deborah Crose's 2011 Ford received extensive damages and was towed by Bledsoe Conoco in Camdenton, Missouri. Steve Dodson's 2001 Chevrolet received total damages from the collision and was towed by Starr Towing service in Linn Creek, Missouri.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of trooper, J.M. Conrad, of troop C.

When one driver was traveling at a high rate of speed, he crashed into oncoming traffic and caused injuries for himself and his victim.

On January 25, 2012 at approximately 3:30 P.M., 18-year-old Steve Dodson from Linn Creek, Missouri was operating a 2001 Chevrolet and traveling westbound on Route Y 1.5 miles west of Linn Creek, Missouri. At said time and place, Deborah Crose, age 51, from Camdenton, Missouri was traveling eastbound in a 2011 Ford.

The crash occurred as Dodson was traveling at a high rate of speed and crossed the center line, crashing into Crose. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of this crash.

Dodson, the at-fault driver, suffered moderate injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash by EMS to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, Missouri. Crose suffered moderate injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash by EMS to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, Missouri.

Dodson's vehicle received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Beldsoe Conoco of Camdenton, Missouri. Crose's 2011 Ford received extensive damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Starr Towing Service of Linn Creek, Missouri. Both drivers had driver insurance at this time.

This investigation was led by Trooper S.M. Cummings and assisted by Corporal J.E. Lowary in Camden County.

In Polk County, a woman of Pleasant Hope is killed Tuesday afternoon when her vehicle crashed with a school bus.

On January 24, 2012 at approximately 3:55 p.m., Tracy Bauer, 45 and of Pleasant Hope, Missouri was operating a 2001 Dodge Pick-up traveling in the southbound direction of Highway H. Wilfred Hardiman, age 61 and of Buffalo, Missouri was operating a 2000 GMC school bus traveling in the westbound direction of Highway H.

At that said time and place, Bauer was traveling southbound on Highway H, one mile south of Pleasant Hope, as Wilfred was traveling westbound operating a Pleasant Hope R-6 school bus. While the school bus was involved in this crash there were no children on it. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Bauer traveled off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, and then was skidding out of control across the roadway when she was then struck broadside by the 2000 GMC school bus.

Tracy Bauer was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Polk County coroner, Roy Harms. Bauer was transported to Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri. The driver of the school bus, Wilfred Hardiman, sustained moderate injuries from the crash and was taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Wilfred was reported to be the only participant involved that was wearing a safety device.

Tracy's 2001 Dodge Pick-up and Wilfred's 2000 GMC school bus both received total damages and were both towed by B & B Wrecker of Bolivar Missouri.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Pleasant Hope Police and Fire Department, Morrisville Fire and Rescue, and troop D. This is troop D's fourth fatality crash for January and for 2012.

When a driver slowed down for a deer in the roadway, she was crashed into from behind in a rear-end crash in Douglas County that resulted in injuries for her passengers and that of the at-fault driver's passenger.

On January 23, 2012 at approximately 7:30 P.M., 20-year-old Stephanie Griffin from Vanzant, Missouri was traveling eastbound on Missouri Highway 76 two miles west of Vanzant in a 2008 Toyota SUV. Griffin had two passengers: Jody Daugherty, age 43, from West Plains, Missouri and Frances Whanger, age 58, from Vanzant, Missouri. At said time and place, Ryan Willhite, age 15, from Mountain Grove, Missouri was heading eastbound in a 1994 Dodge Truck . Willhite had one passenger - Dalton Moore, age 16, from Mountain Grove, Missouri.

The crash occurred as Griffin was slowing for a deer in the roadway and Willhite crashed into her vehicle in a rear-end collision.

Griffin did not suffer injuries as a result of the crash. Griffin's passenger, Daugherty, suffered moderate injuries and was transported by St. John's EMS from the scene of the crash to St. John's Regional Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri. Griffin's second passenger, Whanger, suffered moderate injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash by Cox EMS to St. John's Regional Medical Center in Springfield. Willhite's passenger, Moore, suffered minor injuries and was transported by private vehicle from the scene of the crash to Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri. Daugherty was the only one to wear a seatbelt at the time of the crash of those who suffered injuries.

Griffin's Toyota SUV received moderate damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Gentryville Garage of Gentryville, Missouri. Willhite's Dodge truck received extensive damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Mountain Grove Towing of Mountain Grove, Missouri. Both drivers had driver insurance at this time.

According to a study on the involvement of deer in Missouri traffic crashes that was conducted in 2010 by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Missouri had 3,420 incidents of deer-related crashes in 2010. Allegedly, one deer crash occurred every 2.6 hours in the state.

When one driver crashed into a pedestrian, the pedestrian suffers moderate injuries and is transported by EMS from the scene of the crash.

On January 22, 2012 at approximately 6:45 P.M., 40-year-old Gregory Boyer from Jefferson City, Missouri was traveling eastbound on Business 50 west at Apache Trail in Cole County in a 2000 Chevrolet. At said time and place, Elizabeth Starkey, age 48, from Fulton, Missouri was walking in the eastbound lane.

Boyer's vehicle crashed into Starkey as she was walking. Starkey suffered moderate injuries as a result. She was transported by EMS from the scene of the crash to St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City, Missouri. Boyer did not suffer injuries from this crash.

Boyer's Chevrolet received minor damage and was driven from the scene of the crash. The crash report does not mention if any citations were issued.

In St. Louis County, three Missouri residents were involved in a crash that resulted from one driver operating her vehicle improperly by swerving into other lanes of traffic.

On January 19, 2012 at approximately 1:00 p.m., Wendy Dudek, age 41 and of St. Louis, Missouri was operating a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta and traveling in the northbound direction of I-270. Gerald Brassford, age 77 and of O'Fallon, Missouri was operating a 1993 Buick Century and traveling in the northbound direction as well. The last vehicle involved in the crash was James Herbig, age 25 and of Monroe, Missouri. James was operating a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and traveling in the northbound direction of I-270.

At that said time and place, Wendy, Gerald, and James were all traveling northbound on I-270, north of Ladue, when suddenly Wendy improperly operated her vehicle by swerving into the third lane where oncoming traffic was heavy. James was traveling in that third lane when Wendy swerved into it causing him to collide into her vehicle and thus causing Wendy to collide into Gerald's vehicle. Gerald as a result of the crash struck the median.

Wendy Dudek sustained moderate injuries from this crash collision and was taken by Creve Coeur ambulance to Mercy Hospital where she would be treated for her medical condition. James received only minor injuries from the crash and was taken by Fronetnac ambulance to DePaul Hospital. Gerald reported to be uninjured and did not seek medical attention.

All participants of this crash were reported by the Missouri State Highway Patrol to be wearing their seat belts.

Wendy's 2000 Volkswagen received total damages and James' 2009 Chevrolet Silverado received moderate damages from the crash, and both were towed by McNamara Standard. Gerald's 1993 Buick received extensive damages but his vehicle was able to be driven from the scene of the crash.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of trooper, J.A. Hillard, and corporal, M.E. Broniec, of troop C.

In Jefferson City, Imperial resident fails to complete stop at light and collided with another vehicle head-on.

On January 19, 2012 at approximately 2:40 p.m., Chasity Duncan, age 23 and of Imperial, Missouri was operating a 1998 Ford Explorer and traveling in the northbound direction on Missouri 141. Judith Fletcher, age 54 and of Hillsboro, Missouri was operating a 2008 Chevrolet Impala and traveling in the westbound direction on Missouri 141.

At that said time and place, Judith was westbound and stopped on the intersection of Romaine Creek road waiting for the traffic light to turn green. Chasity was traveling northbound on Missouri 141 and was approaching the intersection of Romaine Creek road. The traffic light turned green and Judith entered the intersection where Chasity failed to stop at the red traffic light and entered the intersection as well causing the front of Chasity's vehicle to collide head-on with the front of Judith's vehicle.

Chasity Duncan and Judith Fletcher both received moderate injuries from the collision and were transported to St. Anthony's hospital by the Township ambulance. The Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report states that both drivers were wearing their seat belts in the duration of the crash.

Chasity Duncan's 1998 Ford Explorer received moderate damages and was towed by Miner's Towing. Judith Fletcher's 2008 Chevrolet Impala received total damages from the crash and was also towed by Minor's Towing.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and assisted by trooper, M.R. Ashby, of troop C.

In Jefferson City, three Pacific, Missouri residents are moderately injured due to the driver being inattentive and failing to operate the vehicle correctly.

On January 18, 2012 at approximately 6:09 p.m., John Reed, age 41, was operating a 2002 Hyundai Accent and traveling in the southbound direction on Missouri Route F. The passengers in John's vehicle are Lynnette Moore, age 41, and Teresa Knipe, age 41.

At that said time and place, John was traveling southbound on Missouri Route F of McNamee School road with two other passengers in the vehicle. The crash report from Missouri State Highway Patrol states that for the duration of the crash and a probable cause is that he was inattentive while operating the vehicle. That being said, John traveled off the left side of the roadway and crashed which made the vehicle overturn.

John Reed and his two passengers, Lynnette and Teresa, all sustained moderate injuries from this crash and were transported to Mercy Medical Center by the Meramec ambulance district. Missouri patrolmen report that Lynnette and Teresa wore their seat belts and driver, John, did not.

John Reed's 2002 Hyundai Accent received total damages from this crash and his vehicle was towed by Northwest Towing.

When one driver crossed over the centerline, he crashed into oncoming traffic in a head-on collision and caused moderate injuries for himself and serious injuries for the victim and her passenger in Oregon County.

On January 17, 2012 at approximately 11:20 P.M., 26-year-old Andrew Curtis from Pocahontas, Arkansas was operating a 1994 Chevrolet Blazer and travelling westbound on MO 142 three miles north of Myrtle in Oregon County. At said time and place, Paul Schamel, age 25, from Alton, Missouri was heading eastbound in a 1996 Geo Prizm. Schamel had one passenger - Alethea Schamel, age 16, from Alton.

The crash occurred when Curtis crossed over the center line and crashed into Schamel in a head-on collision. Neither of the drivers nor was the passenger wearing seatbelts at the time of this crash.

Curtis, the at-fault driver, suffered moderate injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash to Ozark's Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri by Fulton County Arkansas EMS. Victim Paula Schamel suffered serious injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash by Air Evac to Ozark's Medical Center in West Plains. Paula Schamel's passenger, Alethea Schamel, suffered serious injuries and was also transported from the scene of the crash by Air Evac to Ozark's Medical Center.

Curtis's Chevrolet Blazer received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Mammoth Spring Collision & Wicker Towing of Thayer, Missouri. Schamel's Prizm received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Wicker Towing. Both drivers had Farm Bureau driver insurance at this time.

This investigation was led by Sergeant D.D. Finley and assisted by D.A. Huffman in Oregon County.

In Knox County, a Kirksville, Missouri resident was killed and two other drivers were injured after a four-vehicle crash Tuesday evening.

On January 17, 2012 at approximately 6:30 p.m., Ira Hoover, age 40 and of Hurdland, Missouri was operating a 2003 Chevrolet and traveling in the eastbound direction on Highway 11. The second vehicle involved in this crash is Troy Lawrence, age 37 and of Kirksville, Missouri as he was operating a 2001 Ford traveling in the westbound direction of Highway 11. A third vehicle involved in this crash is Joseph Fulk, age 54 and of Memphis, Missouri. Joseph was operating a 2006 Ford and traveling in the eastbound direction. The fourth vehicle that participated in this crash is Joseph Shaver, age 26 and of Brashear, Missouri as he was operating a 2004 Pontiac and traveling in the westbound direction on Highway 11.

At that said time and place, Ira Hoover was stopped on Highway 11, two miles west of Baring and route P, as he was attempting to make a left turn into a private driveway. Troy Lawrence was traveling westbound on that same road and failed to stop as he then struck Ira's vehicle in the rear. The crash caused Troy to travel across the roadway and enter into oncoming traffic when he then collided with Fulk's vehicle head-on. Then a vehicle driven by Joseph Shaver collided with Troy's vehicle on the driver's side, causing it to go off the roadway and come to a final rest.

Troy Lawrence was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Knox County coroner, Jeff Doss. For handling initial arrangements, Lawrence was transported to the Travis Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, Missouri.

Due to the head-on collision with Troy Lawrence, Joseph Fulk sustained moderate injuries from thecrash. Fulk was transported by an air evacuation team to the University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri where he would receive treatment for his medical conditions. Joseph Shaver received minor injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene of the crash and was soon released afterwards.

Ira Hoover's 2003 Chevrolet received minor damages and was able to drive his vehicle from the scene of the crash. Troy's 2001 Ford and Fulk's 2006 Ford received total damages and both were towed by Lakeside Towing in Memphis, Missouri. Joseph Shaver's 2004 Pontiac received moderate damages and was later towed by a private vehicle.

This fatalitycrash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Sergeant T.R. Rohn, Corporal N.J. Shinkle, trooper K. M. Hoover of troop B, Knox and Adair County Sheriffs and Fire Departments, ambulance services, and Missouri's Air Evacuation Team. This is Troop B's third fatality for the year of 2012.

In Dekalb County, a St. Joseph resident is seriously injured and the other driver results with minor injuries in a three-vehicle crash.

On January 17, 2012 at approximately 5:47 p.m., Michael Jones, age 45 and of St. Joseph, Missouri was operating a 1993 Mazda. The second participant involved in this crash is Charles Ramsbottom, age 40 and of Maysville, Missouri as he was operating a 2005 Pontiac. The third vehicle involved in the crash was Brittany Flowers, age 21 and of Kearney, Missouri as she was operating a 2008 Suzuki. All participants involved in this crash were traveling in the northbound direction of Highway 33.

At that said time and place, Jones, Ramsbottom, and Flowers were traveling in the northbound direction on Highway 33, three miles south of Maysville. Flowers then slowed down her vehicle in attempt to make a right hand turn into a private drive as Ramsbottom was driving closely behind her. Ramsbottom slowed down his vehicle and began to pass Flowers. With the attempt to avoid collision with Ramsbottom, Jones swerved off the east side of the highway and then hit the right rear of Ramsbottom's vehicle. The crash caused Jones to hit a mailbox and strike into the right rear of Flower's vehicle, which caused her vehicle to spin clockwise. Her vehicle came to a final resting point on the east side of the roadway facing south. As a result from the collision with Brittany Flowers, Jones' vehicle overturned off the east side of the roadway and came to a rest on its top facing south while Ramsbottom was able to come to a complete and controlled stop.

Jones received serious injuries due to this crash and was transported by Dekalb/Clinton ambulance to the Heartland Regional Medical center for treatment. Brittany Flowers sustained minor injuries and was transported to Cameron Hospital by a private vehicle.

As a result of the crash, Jones' 1993 Mazda received total damages and was towed by Talon Towing. Brittany Flower's 2008 Suzuki also received total damages and was towed by Scotty's Towing and Charles Ramsbottom's 2005 Pontiac received minor damages and was able to drive his vehicle from the scene of the crash.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of trooper J.C. Gilliland and A.J. Webb of troop H, Dekalb County Sheriff's Department, Osborn Fire Department, and Maysville Paramedics.

When one driver lost control of his vehicle, it overturned and crashed into a utility pole killing his passenger at the scene in Howell County.

On January 16, 2012 at approximately 11:15 P.M., 29-year-old Jeffery Davidson from West Plains, Missouri was traveling southbound in a 1997 Ford Econoline Van on Missouri Highway 17 about 10 miles south of Mountain View in Howell County. Davidson had one passenger - Sandra Romans, age 48, from West Plains, Missouri.

The crash occurred when Davidson lost control of his vehicle and travelled off the right side of the roadway. He crashed into an embankment, overturned, and crashed into a utility pole. Davidson was wearing his seatbelt at this time. His passenger, Romans, was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of this crash.

Davidson suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Ozark's Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri. Romans was killed and pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Howell County Coroner Tim Cherry at 11:20 P.M. The next-of-kin was notified, and she was transported from the scene of the crash to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home in West Plains, Missouri. As required by law, the surviving driver was tested for alcohol.

Davidson's van received total damage was towed from the scene of the crash by Gentleman Jim's Wrecker of Mountain View, Missouri. Davidson did not have driver's insurance at this time.

This investigation was led by Sergeant J.A. Cravens of Troop G in Howell County. This was Troop G's 3rd fatality of the year as compared to number 3 at this same time in the year of 2011.

When one driver fails to yield to oncoming traffic before pulling out onto Route F in Jackson County, he crashes into a teenage driver who is injured, along with her passenger, as a result.

On January 15, 2012 at approximately 2:30 P.M., 78-year-old Gerald Grimmett from Lone Jack, Missouri was traveling westbound on Cline Road in Jackson County in a 2001 Chevrolet. At said time, Jessica Vitale, age 18, from Lone Jack was traveling northbound on Route F in a 2000 Mercury. Vitale had one passenger - Rachel Brown, age 20, from Lee's Summit.

The crash occurred as Grimmett pulled out from Cline Road and crashed into the side of Vitale's vehicle. Both vehicles travelled off the west side of the roadway on Route F and came to rest there. Both drivers and passenger were wearing their seatbelts at this time.

The at-fault driver, Grimmitt suffered minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene of the crash. Vitale suffered moderate injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Missouri by the Lone Jack Fire Department. Vitale's passenger, Brown, suffered moderate injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash to Centerpoint Medical Center by Lake Lotawana Fire Department.

Grimmett's Chevrolet received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Jim's Tow Service of Lee's Summit. Vitale's Mercury received total damage and was also towed from the scene of the crash by Jim's Tow Service.

This investigation continues and is led by Corporal C. R. Blackmon and assisted by Corporal J. W. Dick, Jackson County deputies and the Lone Jack Police Department.

Charges are pending.

In Johnson County, Susan Niermeier, 58, of Kingsville, Missouri died after a vehicle struck her on Highway 58.

On January 14, 2012 at approximately 6:10 a.m., Susan Niermeier, 58 years old and from Kingsville, Missouri was walking roadside on Highway 58. The vehicle involved in this fatality crash is Dustin Kaysik, age 35 and from Pleasant Hill, Missouri was operating a 1997 Chevrolet and traveling in the eastbound direction on highway 58.

At that said time and place, Susan was walking roadside on Highway 58, south of Maple Street, and Dustin was traveling eastbound at that same location. According to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Susan was walking along the highway when she was struck by the vehicle driven by Dustin Kaysik.

Susan Niermeier was pronounced dead at the scene of this fatality crash by the Johnson County assistant coroner, David Adair. Susan was then taken to Sweeney Phillips Funeral Home in Warrensburg, Missouri. Dustin Kaysik reported to be uninjured and did not seek medical attention.

Dustin's 1997 Chevrolet received minor damages and was able to drive his car from the scene of the crash. No arrest information has been reported for the death of Susan.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Corporal D.W. Melton and the Johnson County Sheriff's Department.

In Hickory County, three Wheatland residents are seriously injured due to a head-on collision on an icy and narrow country road.

On January 12, 2012 at approximately 6:20 p.m., Pamela Squires, age 52, and passenger Byron Potts, age 47, are operating a 1988 Ford Taurus traveling in the westbound direction on County Road 270. Joy Postma, age 64, was operating a 1999 Dodge Durango and traveling in the eastbound direction on County Road 270.

At that said time and place, both Squires and Postma were traveling on County Road 270. The country road was very narrow and icy which resulted in both drivers to collide with each other head-on.

Pamela Squires received serious injuries and was taken to St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Pamela's passenger, Byron Potts, also received serious injuries and was taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Joy Postma as well sustained serious injuries from this head-on collision and was taken to Citizen's Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, Missouri.

Pamela's 1988 Ford Taurus and Joy's 1999 Dodge Durango both received total damages from this crash and both were towed by Hickory County Towing of Hermitage.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Sergeant L. Clay Crowe of troop D.

In Dade County, Chad Clayton, war veteran, died and six months after the severe beating that killed him, Anthony Cheek is finally charged with second-degree murder.

On July 15, 2011 with no reported time from authorities, Anthony Cheek, age 28 and from Lockwood, Missouri is charged with the murder of 30 year-old Chad Clayton that returned to his home to visit friends and family.

The assault happened on Spruce Street in Lockwood where authorities state that Clayton was found in his home on a chair, beaten, bloody, and unconscious. Cheek told the court that he went to Clayton's house for a marijuana deal. Cheek initially states on court records that Chad Clayton had head butted him in the face and that he acted out in self-defense. Highway Patrol investigators report that Cheek's story didn't add up to the murder of Chad Clayton, but likely the fight began over the marijuana deal.

After the fight, Clayton was rushed to the Springfield hospital for critical head trauma and remained on life support throughout the weekend. Clayton died on July 17, 2011 from serious injuries due to the intense beatings.

From earlier statements, the Dade County coroner says that he has determined a cause of death but cannot release the information until the investigation is complete. The Missouri State Highway Patrol suspended the investigation in November reporting that all leads had been exhausted and they decline to state charges against Cheek's arrest to the public. Cheek is being held without bond in the Dade County jail while deputies are still interviewing possible witnesses and comparing statements to evidence found at the scene. Dade County Sherriff, Steven Stapp, who was leading the investigation, earlier stated that in this case it was too early to call it a homicide investigation. Now at this point, Sergeant Nash from the Missouri State Highway Patrol is completely in charge of the investigation. Sergeant Nash states that although the investigation isn't closed, investigators have no more leads to follow up on and that there is not enough evidence to prosecute Anthony Cheek.

Chad Clayton was in the National Guard and served in the 203rd Engineering Battalion. Later he was deployed to Afghanistan in the fall of August 2009 and returned in October of 2010 after serving 11 months as a supple specialist for Bagram Air Force Base and the Forward Operating Base in Sharana. After returning in October, Clayton was attending Missouri State University in Springfield where he was studying Criminology in hopes of entering law enforcement.

The wrongful death of Chad Clayton still undergoes investigation and with hopes from family and friends to bring his murder to justice.

When one driver rear-ended another, his vehicle spun and crashed into a third vehicle, causing the passenger of the first victim to suffer moderate injuries in a Vernon County crash.

On January 11, 2012 at approximately 3:40 P.M., 19-year-old Victoria Keys from Nevada, Missouri was operating a 2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor and heading westbound on US 54 one mile west of Nevada. At said time and place, Matthew Smith, age 29, from Nevada, Missouri was also heading westbound in a 1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Smith had one passenger - Kindra Nickels, age 22, from Nevada, Missouri. Also at this time and place, Connie Duncan, age 60, from Fort Scott, Kansas was heading westbound in a 2004 Jeep Liberty.

The crash occurred when Keys crashed into Smith in the rear end then spun and crashed into Duncan. Smith's passenger, Nickels was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of this crash.

Nickels suffered moderate injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash to Nevada Regional Hospital by ambulance. None of the three drivers suffered injuries as a result of this crash.

Keys's Mitsubishi received total damage and was towed by Garwood Wrecker Service of Nevada, Missouri. Smith's Monte Carlo received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by TCB & Auto Service of Nevada, MO. Duncan's Jeep Liberty received moderate damage and was driven from the scene of the crash.

This investigation was led by Trooper Justin D Leemasters of Troop D in Vernon County.

When one driver lost control, he crossed over the centerline and crashed into oncoming traffic causing moderate to serious injuries for himself and his victim in Pettis County.

On December 12, 2012 at approximately 1:00 A.M., 23-year-old Scott Campbell from Marshall, Missouri was heading northbound on US 65 south of Grave Avenue in Sedalia, Missouri in a 2003 Chevrolet. At said time and place, Douglass Schouten, age 45, from Green Ridge, Missouri was heading southbound in a 2006 Chevrolet Impala. Neither driver had passengers at this time.

The crash occurred when Campbell lost control of his vehicle and crossed over the centerline, crashing into Schouten. Campbell had his seatbelt on at the time of this crash, and Schouten did not.

Campbell, the at-fault driver, suffered moderate injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash to Bothwell Hospital in Sedalia, Missouri. Schouten suffered serious injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash to Bothwell Hospital in Sedalia.

Campbell's Chevrolet received extensive damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Don's Truck Towing of Sedalia, Missouri. Schouten's Impala also received extensive damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Don's Truck Towing.

This investigation was led by Trooper D. C. Belardo and assisted by Corporal R. S. Smith and the Sedalia Police Department.

When one driver lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a fence and tree, both she and her passenger were killed on Missouri Route CC of Howell County.

On January 9, 2012 at approximately 6:00 A.M., 50-year-old Cammy Stover from West Plains, Missouri was driving a 1995 Toyota and heading eastbound on Missouri Route CC 4 miles west of West Plains in Howell County. Stover had one passenger - Angelia Cypret, age 52, from West Plains.

The crash occurred when Stover ran off the right side of the roadway and then went up an embankment where she crashed into a fence and tree. Neither Cypret nor Stover was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver, Stover, and the passenger, Cypret, were killed and pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Howell County Coroner Tim Cherry. The next-of-kin were notified and both Stover and Cypret were transported from the scene of the crash to Robertson Drago Funeral Home in West Plains, Missouri.

Stover's Toyota received extensive damage as a result of this crash and was towed by Midway Towing & Salvage of Pomona, Missouri.

This investigation was led by Sergeant D. D. Finley. This was Troop G's 1st and 2nd fatality for 2012.

After one Missouri teenager's vehicle became airborne while cresting the top of a hill in Franklin County, it crashed into a tree and overturned, causing moderate to serious injuries for three passengers.

On January 10, 2012 at approximately 1:00 A.M., 19-year-old Dylan Sheldon from St. Clair, Missouri was heading southbound in a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta on Peacock Road 1.2 miles south of Springfield Road in Franklin County. Sheldon had three passengers: Dalton Conway, age 19, from St. Clair; Daniel Holmes, age 20, from St. Clair; and Tyler Kennedy, age 20, from St. Clair.

The crash occurred when Sheldon was driving too fast for the conditions and became airborne while cresting the top of a hill. Sheldon lost control of the vehicle, and it exited the left side of the roadway. The vehicle then crashed into a tree and overturned. The vehicle finally came to rest on its roof. Conway and Kennedy were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of this crash, and it is unknown if Holmes and Sheldon were.

The at-fault driver, Sheldon, suffered serious injuries and was taken from the scene of the crash to Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri by St. Clair ambulance. Kennedy suffered moderate injuries and was taken to the Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri by private transportation. Holmes suffered serious injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur, Missouri by helicopter service. Conway suffered moderate injuries and was taken from the scene of the crash to Missouri Baptist Hospital by private transportation.

Sheldon's Volkswagen Jetta received total damage as a result of this crash. It was towed by I-44 Towing & Recovery of Pacific, Missouri. It is unknown if Sheldon had driver insurance at this time.

This investigation was led by Corporal L. J. Keathley of Troop C in Franklin County.

In Stoddard County, a vehicle crosses the center line and collides with two others and only one received moderate injuries.

On January 9, 2012 at approximately 12:50 p.m., Deborah Brannon, age 49 and from Wingo, Kentucky was operating a 2001 Hyundai and traveling in the southbound direction of highway 25. The second vehicle involved in the crash was Jeffrey Strange, age 47 and from Holcomb, Missouri. Jeffrey Strange was operating a 2003 Freightliner and traveling in the northbound direction on highway 25. The third vehicle involved in the crash was Jerrell Jones, age 63 and from Newport, Arkansas. Jerrell Jones was operating a 2002 International and traveling in the northbound direction on highway 25. The fourth and final vehicle involved in this crash was Sara Dirks, age 63 and from Malden, Missouri. Sara Dirks was operating a 2010 Honda Accord and traveling in the northbound direction of highway 25.

At that said time and place, Deborah Brannon was traveling southbound on Missouri highway 25 when she crossed the center line and collided head on with Jeffrey Strange. After Deborah struck with Jeffrey's vehicle, her vehicle began to skid and then struck into the vehicle of Jerrell Jones. Sara Dirks saw Deborah's vehicle approaching and to avoid contact she immediately drove off the roadway into a ditch.

Sara Dirk, Jerrell Jones, and Jeffrey Strange all reported to be uninjured and did not seek medical attention. Deborah Brannon received moderate injuries from this crash and she was taken by ambulance to Missouri Southern Health Care in Dexter, Missouri.

Deborah Brannon's 2001 Hyundai received total damages from this crash and her vehicle was towed by Allen Christian. Jerrell Jones and Sara Dirk's vehicles received only minor damages and were able to be driven from the scene of the crash. Jeffrey Strange's 2003 Freightliner received minor damages and was towed by Macmahon's Wrecker.

In Christian County, a 14 year-old bicyclist suffers from serious injuries when he attempted to cross the highway at a red traffic light and pulled in front of oncoming traffic.

On January 5, 2012 at approximately 5:12 p.m., Nathaniel Lee, age 14 and from Nixa, Missouri was operating a UNK Year Hard ZX20 BMX bicycle and traveling on US 160. The only vehicle involved in this collision was a 1992 Mercury Topaz that was driven by 27 year-old Springfield, Missouri resident, Alondo Maggard, who was traveling northbound on US 160.

At that said time and place, Nathaniel Lee and three other teenagers were riding their bikes near a trailer park along highway 160 and highway CC in Christian County. Nathaniel approached the highway stop light and tried to cross the highway when the traffic light was red. Lee pulled himself into oncoming traffic when Alondo Maggard entered the intersection on a green traffic light and collided with bicyclist, Nathaniel.

Nathaniel was taken by ambulance to Cox South hospital in Springfield to be treated for his serious injuries and condition. The three other teenagers that were riding with Nathaniel for the duration of the crash were uninjured.

Alondo's 1992 Mercury Topaz received moderate damages and his vehicle was driven from the scence of the crash. Nathaniel's BMX bicycle received total damages as results from the collision and the bicycle was removed by his family.

This bicycle crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Corporal Ron Cole of troop D.

In St. Genevieve County, a resident of Bonne Terre is killed after veering into the path of another vehicle and collided head-on.

On January 5, 2012 at approximately 10:20 a.m., Edward Leonard, age 59 and from Rolla, Missouri was operating a 1997 Volvo Tractor and traveling westbound on Route Y. Jerri Swank, age 49 and from Bonne Terre, Missouri was operating a 1995 Dodge Ram Pick-up and traveling eastbound on Route Y.

At that said time and place, Edward was traveling westbound on Route Y, west of Saddleback Trail, and Jerri was traveling eastbound on the same road. Jerri then veered into the path of Edward's vehicle and they both collided head-on. Jerri's vehicle then traveled off the right side of the roadway and down into an embankment.

Jerri Swank was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by St. Genevieve ambulance personnel. Jerri was taken to St. Genevieve coroner's office by St. Genevieve's coroner. Edward Leonard reported to have no injuries and did not seek medical attention.

Jerri's 1995 Dodge Ram Pick-up received total damages and was towed by D & S Towing. Edward's 1997 Volvo Tractor also received total damages and was towed by Buckley's Towing.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol with the assistance of trooper Joseph Flynn and Jarrod Thomas of troop C and Crash Team IV.

In St. Louis County, one Chesterfield resident is killed after being forced and struck into by three other vehicles.

On January 4, 2012 at approximately 3:33 p.m., Jeffrey Dobner, age 25 and from Foristell, Missouri was operating a 2011 Volkswagen GTI and traveling in the westbound direction. The second vehicle involved in the crash is Laura Dunn, age 48 and from Wildwood, Missouri as she was operating a 2004 Hyundai Elantra traveling in the westbound direction. A third participant in this crash is James Saale, age 57 and from Chillicothe, Missouri. James was operating a 2006 Freightliner and traveling in the westbound direction. A fourth and final participant involved in the crash is Courtney Birkel, age 41 and from Chesterfield, Missouri. Courtney was operating a 2004 Toyota Sienna and was traveling in the westbound direction.

At that said time and place, Jeffrey was traveling on westbound US 40 east of Clarkson Road, when approached Laura Dunn and struck her vehicle in the rear. After being struck, Laura lost control of her vehicle and traveled into the path of James. James then struck Laura which forced her vehicle into Courtney's and finally Laura came to a final rest off the roadway in a ditch.

Laura Dunn was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by the Monarch Fire Protection District Personnel. Laura was taken to St. Louis County medical examiner's office by the St. Louis County Livery Service.

None of the other participants reported to have injuries or seek medical attention.

Jeffrey's 2011 Volkswagen GTI and Laura's 2004 Hyundai Elantra both received total damages from this crash. And James' 2006 Freightliner and Courtney's 2004 Toyota Sienna both received moderate damages from this crash. All vehicles were towed by McNamara's Towing.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol as well with the assistance of the Crash Team II sergeant, Andrew Mallery.

In Franklin County, an approaching vehicle in the wrong lane causes a head-on collision between two other vehicles and both were moderately injured.

On January 4, 2012 at approximately 5:39 a.m., Joel Russell, age 36 and from Beaufort, Missouri was operating a 2004 Ford F150 and traveling eastbound on highway 50. Chelsie Hubenthal, age 21 and of Leslie, Missouri was operating a 2006 Pontiac G6 and traveling westbound on highway 50.

At that said time and place, Chelsie was traveling westbound on highway 50, only .2 miles west of route AJ, when suddenly a vehicle trying to attempt to pass other was approaching head-on in her lane. Chelsie trying to avoid a collision swerved and crossed the center line that which Joel was traveling in and collided with Joel head-on.

Both Joel and Chelsie were wearing a safety device for their duration in this crash as well as receiving moderate injuries. Joel and Chelsie were taken to Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri by the Union ambulance for medical attention.

Joel's 2004 Ford F150 received total damages and was towed by Union Towing, as well for Chelsie's 2006 Pontiac G6 it also received total damages and was towed by Sturms Towing.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and also with the assistance of trooper D. Close of troop C.

When two drivers crested a hill, they crashed into each in a head-on collision in Macon County and suffered minor to moderate injuries.

On December 1, 2012 at approximately 1:40 A.M., 18-year-old Brady Bogeart from Atlanta, Missouri was heading northbound on Jupiter Avenue 2 miles southwest of Atlanta, Missouri in a 1999 Ford. At said time and place, Leon Shears, age 37, from Macon, Missouri was traveling southbound in a 1995 Chevrolet. Shears had one passenger - Brenda Shears, age 40, from Macon, Missouri.

The crash occurred when Bogeart and Shears met at a hill crest and crashed into each other in a head-on collision. Both vehicles came to rest in the roadway. Bogeart was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Brenda and Leon were wearing their seatbelts at this time.

Bogeart suffered moderate injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash by Macon County Ambulance to the Macon Airport and then flown by Staff for Life to the Moberly Regional Hospital in Moberly, Missouri. Brenda Shears suffered moderate injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash by the Macon County Ambulance to the Samaritan Hospital in Macon, Missouri. Leon Shears suffered minor injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash by the Adair County Ambulance to the Samaritan Hospital in Macon, Missouri.

Bogeart's vehicle received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Still's Towing of Macon, Missouri. Shears's vehicle received extensive damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Still's Towing of Macon, Missouri.

This investigation was led by Trooper C. Primm of Troop B in Macon County and assisted by Sergeant Seiner, the Atlanta Fire Department, the Macon County Rescue and the Macon County Sheriff's Department.

When a pick-up truck driver failed to yield before pulling out of an intersection, he crashed into a semi-truck, suffered serious injuries and his passenger was killed as a result of this crash.

On January 2, 2012 at approximately 9:30 A.M., 57-year-old William Davis from Macon, Missouri was traveling northbound on US-63 in Queen City, Missouri and operating a 2010 International Semi-Truck. At said time, Terry Anders, age 38 from Greentop, Missouri was heading eastbound on Highway W in Queen City, Missouri in a 1980 GMC. Anders had one passenger - Joann Vice, age 37, from Greentop, Missouri.

The crash occurred when Anders failed to stop at the intersection of US 63 and Highway W and crashed into the side of Davis's Semi-Truck. Davis was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Neither Anders nor Vice were wearing their seatbelts at this time.

Davis did not suffer any injuries as a result of this crash. Anders suffered moderate injuries and was taken to the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri by private transportation. Vice was killed as a result of this crash and pronounced dead at the scene. The next-of-kin was notified and she was transported by the Schuyler County Ambulance to the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

Davis's Semi-Truck received extensive damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Still Towing of Macon, Missouri. Anders's truck received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Lakeside Towing of Memphis, Missouri.

This investigation was led Trooper Cary F. Porter of Troop B in Schuyler County, the Major Crash Investigation Unit, the Schuyler County Ambulance, Schuyler County Sheriff's Office, Queen City Fire Department, and the Greentop Fire Department. This was Troop B's first fatality for 2012.

When one driver crashed into the rear of another vehicle that was stationary on the right shoulder of I-470 in Jackson County, the victim was killed, her passenger suffered minor injuries, and the at-fault driver suffered moderate injuries as a result of this crash.

On December 2, 2012 at approximately 3:00 P.M., 36-year-old Crystal McCoy from Kansas City, Missouri was operating a 2005 Chevrolet and heading westbound on I-470 west of Pryor Road in Jackson County. At said time and place, Virginia Bruce, age 40, from Kansas City, Missouri was stationary on the right shoulder of I-470 facing west in a 2000 Ford. Bruce had one passenger - Mary Bowers, age 42, from Kansas City, Missouri.

The crash occurred when McCoy traveled off the right side of the roadway and crashed into the rear of Bruce. After the crash, both vehicles traveled off the right side of the roadway. All drivers and occupant were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

McCoy suffered moderate injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash by Lee's Summit Fire Department to the Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Bowers suffered minor injuries and was also transported from the scene of the crash by Lee's Summit Fire Department to the Research Medical Center. Bruce was killed as a result of this crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The next-of-kin was notified, and she was transported to the Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office in Kansas City, Missouri.

McCoy's vehicle received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Abc Tow of Blue Springs and Lee's Summit in Missouri. Bruce's vehicle also received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Gt Tow of Smithville, Missouri.

This investigation continues and was led by Corporal C.R. Blackmon of Troop A, Trooper S.D. Galaska, and Lee's Summit Police Department.

When one driver crossed the centerline, he crashed into oncoming traffic, was killed and caused serious injuries for his victim on Highway 19 in Crawford County.

On January 2, 2012 at approximately 6:03 P.M., 20-year-old Micah Tate from Cuba, Missouri was heading north on Highway 19/Highway O at the south edge of Cuba in a 1994 Chevrolet Camaro. At said time and place, Wayne Taylor, age 44, from Steelville, Missouri was heading south in a 1994 Ford Ranger. Neither drivers had passengers at this time.

The crash occurred when Taylor crossed the centerline and struck Tate in a head-on collision. Both vehicles came to rest in the roadway after the crash. Taylor was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, and it is unknown if Tate was.

The victim, Micah Tate, suffered serious injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash by North Crawford County Ambulance to Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri. Taylor was killed and pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by the Crawford County Coroner, Paul Hutson. The next-of-kin was notified and he was taken to Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville.

Tate's Chevrolet Camaro received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Miles & Sons Towing, Inc. of Cuba, Missouri. Taylor's Ford Ranger received total damage and was also towed by Miles & Sons Towing, Inc. of Cuba.

This investigation was led by Corporal Robert May of Troop I in Crawford County. This was the first fatality crash of Troop I in 2012.
