On June 18, 2013 at approximately 2:29 p.m., Charlene Vanderpool, age 79 of Washburn, Missouri was operating a 1999 Subaru Forester. James Huffman, age 64 of Morganton, Georgia was operating a 2001 Freightliner.
At that said date and time, Charlene was traveling in the southbound direction as James Huffman was traveling in the northbound direction on Missouri Highway 37 and one mile north of Purdy. The crash occurred when Charlene crossed the center line and collided with James' vehicle head-on.
According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, James was not injured from the collision and did not seek medical treatment. The crash report indicates that it was unknown if Charlene was wearing her seat belt at the time of the collision; however James Huffman was found wearing his.
Charlene Vanderpool's 1999 Subaru Forester received total damages and James Huffman's 2001 Freightliner received extensive damages from the head-on collision. Both vehicles were towed by Thomas Towing of Monett.
