I-44 Crash Kills Motorcyclist

In St. Louis County, a Pacific man is killed after a rear-end collision involving his motorcycle and two other vehicles.

On September 21, 2013 at approximately 8:20 p.m., Alan Fish, age 77 of Cuba, Missouri was operating a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Gary Davis, age 47 of Cuba, Missouri was operating a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer. Clyde Cooper, age 39 of Pacific, Missouri was operating a 2002 Yamaha YZF600R.

At that said time and date, all vehicles were traveling in the westbound direction on Interstate 44 and west of Six Flags Road. The crash occurred as the front of Clyde's motorcycle collided with the rear-end of Alan Fish's vehicle, causing him to be ejected from the motorcycle. Gary Davis attempted to avoid striking Clyde Cooper, but Clyde was struck by Gary's undercarriage.

Clyde Cooper received very serious injuries and was transported by Eureka Fire Protection District to St. Clare Hospital in critical condition. Clyde was pronounced dead by Dr. Ronald Russ at St Clare Hospital. Alan Fish and Gary Davis did not report any injuries.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, all participants were wearing safety equipment and seat belts.

Alan Fish's 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Gary Davis' 2003 Chevrolet Blazer received minor damages and were driven from the scene of the crash. Clyde Cooper's 2002 Yamaha received total damages and was towed by Hyndrich Brothers Towing.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop C.
