Pulaski County Crash Leaves Two Dead and Others Seriously Injured

Waynesville man ran off the side of the road, overcorrected, and hit another vehicle head on resulting in two fatalities and serious injuries.

At approximately 9:10pm on February 6, 2011, 57 year old Ronald Prater of Iberia, MO was operating a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer heading southbound on MO 17 .1 mile north of Benton Road. His vehicle was occupied by himself, 57 year old Juanita Prater (also of Iberia) and 14 year old Olivia Prater of Crocker, MO. At that said time and place 18 year old Dakota Ball of Waynesville, MO was operating a 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse heading northbound on MO 17. Ball’s vehicle was occupied by himself and 18 year old Cory Parker also of Waynesville.

Ball ran his vehicle off the right side of the road, then overcorrected and skidded across the centerline and struck the Prater vehicle. Ball’s passenger, Cory Parker, was pronounced dead at the scene. Dakota Ball was taken by Ft Wood Ambulance to St. John’s in Springfield with serious injuries.

Juanita Prater was taken from the scene by Miller County Ambulance to Landing Zone then flown to University Medical Center in Columbia where she was pronounced dead at 12:50am. Ronald and Olivia Prater were taken to Lake Hospital in Osage Beach by Pulaski County Ambulance with moderate injuries.
