On May 4, 2011 at approximately 11:55 a.m., 77 year old Charles C. Clark was operating a 2001 Nissan Sentra traveling westbound in the 14700 block of Manchester Road. Clark’s vehicle was occupied by himself and wife Betty Clark. At that said time and place, Anthony Floyd, a 48 year old of north St. Louis County was operating a 1992 Dodge Dakota traveling eastbound in the 14700 block of Manchester Road. Floyd then drove his vehicle across the eastbound lanes and into the westbound lanes of Manchester, striking the Clark vehicle.

Charles Clark was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Charles Clark’s occupant, wife Betty, was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries and was released a few days later. The at-fault driver, Anthony Floyd, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. A third vehicle was parked nearby and was also damaged in the crash.

Charles Clark, an army veteran, was buried May 10 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Clark had been married for 53 years and was a proud member of the American Legion in Manchester, says his son-in-law Steve Filipek of St. Charles. Charles Clark was an avid traveler, loved boating and fishing and was a longtime church member.
