Collins, Missouri Man Seriously Injured After Being Struck by Vehicle

Henry County crash caused stand still traffic which ultimately led to serious injury for one Missouri pedestrian.

On July 30, 2011 at approximately 2:30 a.m., 38 year old Kerri Vincent of Collins, Missouri was operating a 2002 Buick traveling southbound on MO-13, north of Business 52. Vincent’s vehicle was occupied by herself and 20 year old Cody Cooper also of Collins, Missouri. At that said time and place, an unknown driver was operating a 2011 Chevrolet also traveling southbound on MO-13.

Traffic in southbound MO-13 had slowed to a standstill due to a crash ahead of Vincent and the unknown driver. The passenger in the Vincent vehicle, Cooper, had exited the vehicle was standing directly outside of the vehicle. At that time, the unknown driver struck the side of the Vincent vehicle and then struck passenger Cooper. The unknown driver then fled the scene of the crash.

Cody Cooper, the injured pedestrian, was transported from the scene of the crash by Golden Valley EMS to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital where he was then Life Flighted to Centerpoint Hospital. Cooper sustained serious injuries in the crash.

Both vehicles involved in the crash received moderate damage. The unknown driver’s vehicle was towed from the scene of the crash by Golden Valley Towing. The Vincent vehicle was towed from the scene of the crash by a private party.

This crash was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper A. Craig and was assisted by Henry County Deputies. The investigation continues and charges are pending.
