Four Missouri Adults and Three Children Injured in Crash on US 40

Boone County crash on US 40 at Little General Convenience Store causes moderate to serious injuries for seven Missouri residents, including three children.

On August 16, 2011 at approximately 9:47 a.m., 65 year old Gregory Robinson of Columbia, Missouri was operating a 2007 Jaguar traveling eastbound on US 40 at Little General Convenience Store. At that time and place, 58 year old Anna Sapp of Armstrong, Missouri was operating a 1996 Buick traveling eastbound on US 40. At that time, Sapp pulled her vehicle directly in front of Robinson’s vehicle, causing the two vehicles to violently crash. After the crash, Robinson’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway where it collided with a concrete culvert and caught fire. The Sapp vehicle came to a final resting position on the roadway.

Sapp was transporting five passengers at the time of the crash including three children: 54 year old Mary McClarrinon, 11 year old Kayla Vahldick, 9 year old James Vahldick and 6 year old Preston Vahldick. All of the above listed passengers were transported by ambulance to University Hospital with moderate injuries. The at-fault driver, Anna Sapp, was also transported by ambulance to University Hospital after suffering serious injuries in the crash. The victim driver, Gregory Robinson, was transported by ambulance to University Hospital with moderate injuries.

Both vehicles involved in the crash received total damage and were towed from the scene by Carl’s Towing. Gregory Robinson was wearing his safety device; however, passenger Crystal Vahldick was the only occupant of the Sapp vehicle that was wearing their safety device at the time of the crash. Both drivers possessed insurance coverage for their vehicles.

This crash was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper Helfrecht and was assisted by Sergeant Harris of Troop F.
