Wayne County head-on crash results in injury for three Missouri residents and total
On August 23, 2011 at approximately 1:28 p.m., 20 year old Krista Midkiff of Piedmont, Missouri was operating a 2003 Ford FX5, traveling eastbound on Route V, about 1.5 miles east of Highway 34. Midkiff’s vehicle was occupied by herself and passenger, 40 year old Michelle Barfield of Piedmont, Missouri. At that said time and place, 51 year old Albert Fink also of Piedmont, Missouri was traveling westbound on Route V. Fink then crossed over the center line of Route V and struck Midkiff’s vehicle head-on.
Driver Krista Midkiff and her passenger Michelle Barfield were transported from the scene of the crash by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries. The at-fault driver, Albert Fink, was also transported from the scene of the crash by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.
Midkiff’s vehicle received total damage in the crash and was towed from the scene by Montgomery Automotive. The at-fault vehicle also received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Montgomery Automotive per the owner’s request. The at-fault driver, Albert Fink, was the only individual involved in the crash who was wearing their safety device.
The at-fault driver, Albert Fink, did not possess automotive insurance for his vehicle at the time of the crash. This crash was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper E.M. Reynolds of Troop E.
