On August 26, 2011 at approximately 4:25 a.m., 20 year old Alycia Dickey from Marissa, Illinois was operating a 2007 Ford Mustang traveling in the northbound direction on Missouri 51, south of Route H. There were three other occupants in the car along with Alycia. Timothy Hobeck 28 years old, and Cody Lailer 21 years of age are both from Chester, Illinois. Also from Marissa, Illinois is the 20 year old Joshua Smith.
At that time, Alycia was traveling northbound on Missouri 51 at a very high rate of speed. She then attempted to avoid an animal in the roadway but traveled off the left side of the road and overturned. All four occupants were ejected from the car. Driver, Alycia and occupants Cody and Joshua were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Perry County Coroner, Herb Miller at 0600 hours on the scene. Timothy Hobeck, the only survivor, suffered serious injuries from the crash and was taken by air evacuation to Barnes Hospital in St.Louis.
All occupants of the car were not wearing their seatbelts.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Perry County Sheriff’s Department and Coroner Herb Miller were investigating this fatal accident and at that time couldn’t identify the occupants of the crash. According to the coroner, the accident was discovered just after an injured man was found wandering early Friday morning along Highway 51 North, just north of Highway N. The man was disoriented and reported that he’d been in a fight.
Deputies who responded to the scene then discovered the accident. According to Miller, the 1,000-foot-long-debris field suggests that the vehicle was traveling at speeds of over 100 mph when it crashed. Friday morning, investigators believe it may be possible that the speeding car hit a dog, causing the crash.
This accident is still being investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol and Perry County Sheriff’s Department.
