Missouri Family Seriously Injured in Jefferson County Crash

Desoto, Missouri man loses control of his vehicle and overcorrects, causing him to crash into the vehicle of another Desoto, Missouri family.

On September 9, 2011 at approximately 5:36 p.m., 35 year old April Volner of Desoto, Missouri was operating a 2006 Pontiac Montana traveling eastbound on Missouri Route H, about .3 miles east of Peter Moore Lane. Volner’s vehicle was occupied by herself and husband, 38 year old Keith Volner, and children, 7 year old Brandon Volner and 1 year old Christian Volner.

At that said time and place, 62 year old Michael Boehm of Desoto, Missouri was operating a 1993 Ford F150 traveling westbound on Missouri Route H. Boehm then traveled across the eastbound lane and off the left side of the roadway. Volner steered her vehicle to the left to avoid a crash with Boehm. Boehm traveled back into the westbound lane, striking the passenger side of the Volner vehicle. The Volner vehicle then traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned.

Driver, April Volner, was taken from the scene of the crash by Airflight One to Jefferson Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. Volner vehicle passengers, Keith Volner (38), Brandon Volner (7), and Christian Volner (1) were all transported from the scene of the crash by Valle Ambulance and taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center with moderate and minor injuries. The at-fault driver, Boehm, was transported from the scene of the crash by Big River Ambulance to Jefferson Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

The Volner vehicle received extensive damage in the crash and was towed from the scene by Shank’s Towing. The at-fault vehicle received moderate damage and was also towed from the scene of the crash by Shank’s Towing. Both drivers possessed insurance coverage for their vehicles at the time of the crash.

Driver and adult passenger of the Volner vehicle were not wearing their safety devices; however, both child passengers were wearing their safety devices. The at-fault driver was wearing his safety device at the time of the crash.

This crash was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper C. Gullett of Troop C
