Missouri Route Y Accident Injures Two from Andrew County

When Susan Deering failed to stop at a stop sign, she crashed into the side of Larry Ball’s vehicle . The crash resulted in minor to moderate injuries for both drivers and extensive damages to each of their vehicles.

On August 19, 2011 at approximately 7:35 am, 40-year-old, Susan Deering from Bolckow, Missouri was operating a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix and heading eastbound on US 71 at Route Y 10 miles north of St. Joseph. At the same place and time, 61-year-old, Larry Ball was heading southbound on US 71 in a 1997 Ford Taurus.

The crash occurred in Andrew County when Deering failed to stop at a stop sign and struck Ball’s vehicle in the right side. Both vehicles came to rest in the median with their wheels facing south. Susan Deering was wearing her seatbelt. Larry Ball was not wearing his seatbelt.

The at-fault driver, Deering, suffered minor injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash by a private vehicle to Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Missouri. Ball suffered moderate injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash to Heartland Regional Medical Center by Andrew County Ambulance.

Both the Pontiac and Ford Taurus received extensive damages. Deering’s vehicle was towed from the scene of the crash by Scott’s Repair & Auto Sales from Bolckow, Missouri. Ball’s vehicle was towed from the scene of the crash by L & M Wrecker Service from Savannah, Missouri.

This investigation was assisted by Andrew County Sheriff’s Department.
