Ejection of Driver Results in Fatality Crash

In Jefferson County, one Barnhart resident is pronounced fatal as he was ejected from his vehicle and then struck by another vehicle.

On October 23, 2011 at approximately 1:53 p.m., Gary Forshee, age 64 and from Barnhart, Missouri was operating a 2006 Honda Shadow traveling in the eastbound direction of Missouri Route W. The other vehicle involved in this crash is Jennifer Cunningham, age 40 and from Eureka, Missouri and was operating a 2007 Ford Explorer traveling in the eastbound direction on Missouri Route W.

At that said time and place, Gary was traveling eastbound on Missouri Route W, about 20 feet east of Quarry Road. Gary failed to negotiate a curve to the right of the roadway and lost control of his vehicle. He then suddenly slid across the center line and traveled off the left side of the roadway. At that moment, Gary was ejected from his vehicle and was struck by the vehicle of Jennifer Cunningham.

Gary Forshee was pronounced fatal at the scene of the crash by Eureka Fire Protection Paramedic, Matt Torno. He was wearing a safety device during the crash.

Jennifer Cunningham resulted in zero injuries due to this accident and did not seek medical attention. Gary Forshee was taken to St. Louis County Morgue by the Schaffer’s Mortuary.

Gary Forshee’s 2006 Honda Shadow received moderate damages and was towed privately. Jennifer’s 2007 Ford Explorer received minor damages and was driven from the scene of the crash.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and assisted by trooper A. Michels of troop C.
