Head-On Collision Results in Serious Injuries for Two Missouri Men

When one driver failed to negotiate a curve on wet pavement, he crashed into oncoming traffic in a head-on collision and was ejected from his vehicle. Both drivers suffered moderate to serious injuries and were transported to hospitals in Springfield, Missouri.

On October 26, 2011 at approximately 1:20pm, 33-year-old Christopher Carlson from Springfield, Missouri was operating a 2009 work box truck and heading southbound on Route NN two miles southeast of Springfield. At said time and place, Jonathan Ibbetson, age 36, from Ozark, Missouri was traveling northbound on Route NN in a 1993 Jeep Cherokee. Neither of the drivers had passengers at the time of the crash.

The crash occurred when Ibbetson failed to negotiate a curve on wet pavement. Ibbetson crossed the center line heading towards oncoming traffic. Ibbetson struck Carlson’s vehicle in a head-on collision. Ibbetson was ejected from his vehicle. Ibbetson’s vehicle then came to rest in a creek. Carlson did have his seatbelt on at the time of the crash, but Ibbetson did not.

Carlson suffered moderate injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash to Gills Intensive Care Medical Center of Springfield, Missouri by a private vehicle. Jonathan Ibbetson suffered serious injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash to St. John’s Hospital of Springfield, Missouri by a private vehicle.

Carlson’s truck received extensive damages and was towed from the scene of the crash by Henry’s Wrecker Service of Springfield, Missouri. Ibbetson’s Jeep Cherokee received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by All Night Recovery and Towing of Springfield, Missouri. Carlson had Liberty Mutual insurance at the time of the crash, and Ibbetson had Farm Bureau Insurance.
