Hume, Missouri residents are killed after being struck head on by another vehicle due to low visibility.
On October 21, 2011 at approximately 5:49 p.m., 59 year old Robert Moore of Hume, Missouri was operating a 2005 Dodge traveling westbound on MO 52, about .2 mile west of SW 701 Road. Moore’s vehicle was occupied by himself and one passenger: 65 year old Dollie Moore also of Hume, Missouri.
At that time and place, 25 year old Victoria Dalbec of Deepwater, Missouri was operating a 2007 Mitsubishi traveling eastbound on MO 52. Dalbec’s vehicle was occupied by herself and passenger: 1 year old child, Stanton Dalbec. Dalbec began to slow down due to low visibility and crossed the center line, striking the Moore vehicle head on. Dalbec’s vehicle traveled off the roadway, through a fence and into a field. The Moore vehicle overturned onto its passenger side and came to a rest in the roadway.
Robert and Dollie Moore were both fatally injured in the crash. Dollie Moore was taken from the scene of the crash to Consalus Funeral Home. Robert Moore was taken to Vanzandt-Mills Funeral Home from the scene of the crash. The at-fault driver, Victoria Dalbec, and her son were taken to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital by private vehicle with minor injuries.
Both vehicles received total damage in the crash and were towed from the scene by Golden Valley Wrecker. Deceased driver, Robert Moore, was not wearing his safety device at the time of the crash; however, all other parties were. The at-fault driver did possess insurance coverage for her vehicle at the time of the crash. It is unknown whether the deceased party possessed insurance coverage for his vehicle.
This crash was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Cpl. J.M. Toal of Troop A. Toal was assisted by Trooper R.C. West and Henry County Sheriff’s Department. This was Troop A’s 39th fatality accident on the year and was fatality numbers 40 and 41.
