One man was ejected and both vehicles ended up in the ditch with total damage when one driver attempted to pass a tractor on Hwy H in Jackson County on Monday October 3.
On October 3, 2011 at approximately 7:10pm, 54-year-old Curtis Dieckmann from Sibley, Missouri was operating a 1968 Farmall Tractor heading northbound on Hwy H one-half mile north of Bonehill Road. At the said time and place, Christopher Wade, age 36, from Buckner, Missouri was also heading northbound on Hwy H in a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado.
The crash occurred when Wade attempted to pass Dieckmann and struck the tractor. Wade was ejected from his vehicle, and both vehicles traveled off to the right side of the road and came to rest in the ditch. Neither of the drivers had passengers, nor was wearing seatbelts.
Dieckmann suffered serious injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash to Centerpoint Medical Center by Fort Osage Emergency Medical Services. Wade also suffered serious injuries and was life lighted from the scene of the crash to Centerpoint Medical Hospital.
This investigated was led by Trooper R.A. Wood and assisted by Trooper R.E. Scism, the Fort Osage Fire Department and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.
The investigation continues and charges are pending.
