Two Missouri Families Injured in St. Francois County Crash

When one driver failed to yield at the intersection of Highway 8 and Route J in St. Francois County, he crashed into oncoming traffic and injuries for two Missouri families resulted.

On December 14, 2011 at approximately 5:25 P.M., 47-year-old Elizabeth Gould from Park Hills, Missouri was heading eastbound on Highway 8 in a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer with three passengers. At said time, 72-year-old John Strasser from Park Hills, Missouri was operating a 1995 Toyota Tocoma and heading southbound on Route P with one passenger. Gould’s passengers include 18-year-old Jacob Gould from Park Hills, Missouri, 10-year-old Thomas Gould from Park Hills, Missouri, and 18-year-old Madeisun Young from Farmington, Missouri. Gail Strasser, age 65, from Park Hills, Missouri was John Strasser’s only passenger at the time of the crash.

The crash occurred when Strasser failed to yield before entering into the intersection of Missouri Highway 8 and Route J crashing into Gould on the right side of her vehicle.

Strasser and his passenger, Gail, suffered moderate injuries as a result and were transported from the scene of the crash to Parkland Hospital by St. Francois County Ambulance. Elizabeth Gould suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Mineral Area Regional Medical Center of Farmington, Missouri by St. Francois County Ambulance from the scene of the crash. Gould’s passengers, Thomas, Jacob and Madeisun, suffered minor injuries and were transported by St. Francois County Ambulance to Mineral Area Regional Medical Center.

Strasser’s vehicle received extensive damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Buckley Towing Service of Park Hills, Missouri. Strasser’s vehicle also received extensive damage and was towed by Buckley Towing Service. It is unknown whether either driver had Automobile Insurance at the time of the crash.

This investigation was led by Sergeant J. Ellsworth of Troop C in St. Francois County.
