Driver Killed in Head-On Collision on Snow-Covered Highway

When one driver lost control of her vehicle on a snow-covered highway in Lincoln County, she crossed over the center line and crashed into oncoming traffic, which resulted in minor injuries for herself and the death of the victim.

On February 13, 2012 at approximately 8:00 A.M., 44-year-old Amanda Moon from Clarksville, Missouri was operating a 2006 Mazda M3 and traveling northbound on Highway 49 .2 mile north of Westhoff Road in Lincoln County. At said time and place, Tricia Sliger, age 30, from Foley, Missouri was heading northbound in a 1997 Ford Explorer.

The crash occurred when Sliger lost control on the snow-covered highway causing her to cross over the center line and crash into oncoming driver, Moon. Sliger crashed in to the front of Moon’s vehicle.

Moon was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Lincoln County coroner, Robert Shramek at 8:50 A.M. The next-of-kin was notified, and Moon was transported from the scene of the crash by the Lincoln County coroner to Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, Missouri. Sliger suffered minor injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash by Lincoln County Ambulance District to Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy, Missouri. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of this crash.

Sliger’s vehicle received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by El Rancho Garage of Troy, Missouri. Moon’s vehicle received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by El Rancho Garage.
