Failure to Stop Results in One Fatality

In Clinton County, a man of Lawson, Missouri is killed as he failed to stop for the stop sign and entered the roadway where another vehicle collided with his passenger side.

On January 31, 2012 at approximately 8:40 p.m., John Dolt, age 64 and of Lawson, Missouri was operating a 1995 Ford Ranger traveling in the eastbound direction of US 69. The other vehicle involved in this fatality crash is Michael King, age 54 of Lathrop, Missouri. King was operating a 2004 Kenworth and was traveling in the northbound direction of US 69.

At that said time and place, John was traveling eastbound on US 69 at route PP, 3 miles north of Lawson, when he failed to stop at the stop sign. King was traveling northbound on US 69 when John ran through the sign and approached the roadway. The front of John’s vehicle was struck by the driver’s side of King’s vehicle. Then John’s vehicle came to a rest in the southbound lane of US 69, north of the impact area. King’s vehicle ran off the west side of the road and overturned, coming to a rest on its left side facing east.

John Dolt was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by coroner, Kathleen Little. John was transported by the First Call Morgue of Kansas City, to their business located in Kansas City, Kansas. Michael King reported to be uninjured and did not seek medical attention.

John’s 1995 Ford Ranger sustained total damages from the collision. King’s 2004 Kenworth received extensive damages and both vehicles were towed from the scene of the crash by Sam’s Towing.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Crash Team member, Sergeant G.Q. Billings, and the Lawson Fire and Rescue Team.
