When a pedestrian was attempting to cross US 63 after being involved in an earlier crash, he was hit by two drivers and suffered serious injuries as a result in Boone County.

On February 6, 2012 at approximately 6:00 P.M., 63-year-old Gregg Crane from Columbia, Missouri was heading southbound on US 63 at Liberty Lane in a 1996 Buick. At said time and place, Leta Bax, age 48, from Hartsburg, Missouri was operating a 2004 Chevrolet and heading southbound. Also at this time and place, Richard McNeil, age 45, from Eldon, Missouri was walking across US 63 after being involved in an earlier crash.

The crash occurred when McNeil, the pedestrian, was crashed into first by Bax and and then Crane, who were driving south on US 63, as McNeil was attempting to cross the highway.

McNeil suffered serious injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash to University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri by Staff for Life. Crane and Bax did not suffer injuries as a result of this crash.

Bax’s Chevrolet, the first car to crash into the pedestrian, received minor damage and was driven from the scene of the crash. Crane’s Buick did not receive damage as a result of this crash and was driven from the scene. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of this crash.

This crash was investigated by Sergeant M. J. Broniec. This investigation was assisted by Corporal R. D. Kyle, Trooper J. A. Cluber, Ashland Police Department and Missouri Department of Transportation.
