Six Injured in Head-on Collision

In Lawrence County, a three car accident injures six residents of Cassville, Missouri.

On February 18, 2012 at approximately 7:25 p.m., Robert Day, age 56 and of Cassville, was operating 2010 Chrysler and traveling in the eastbound direction. Robert had five other passengers in his car for the duration of the crash; Clifford Butterfield, age 18, Austin Clancy, age 16, Evan Cowfer, age 14, Paula Day, age 57, and Cody Deleplank, age 15. The second vehicle involved in this crash is James Barnes, age 42 and of Springfield, Missouri. James was operating a 2007 Honda Van and was traveling in the eastbound direction of US 60. The third vehicle in this crash is Jessie Kanne, age 24 and of Marionville, Missouri. Jessie was operating a 2000 Chevrolet pick-up and traveling in the westbound direction of US 60.

At that said time and place, Jessie Kanne was traveling westbound along US 60 and while Robert Day was traveling eastbound on the same road. Jessie crossed the center line and collided with Robert’s vehicle head-on, and the debris from Robert’s vehicle hit James Barnes’ vehicle.

Robert Day received serious injuries from the crash. His wife, Paula, sustained minor injuries as well. The four other passengers, Clifford, Austin, Evan, and Cody received moderate injuries due to the collision. All participants in Robert’s vehicle were transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Jesse Kanne and James Barnes reported to be uninjured and did not seek any medical attention.

Robert Day’s 2010 Chrysler received total damages and was towed by Wellbaums Wrecker of Monett. James Barnes’ 2007 Honda received minor damages and he was able to drive it from the scene of the crash. Jessie Kanne’s 2000 Chrysler received total damages and was towed by Hillbilly Towing of Marionville.

This collision crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop D.
