Deadly Accident in Miller County

In Miller County, a mother, father, and three-year old son were killed in a head-on collision. The family’s two-day old infant survives the crash with moderate injuries.

On February 28, 2012 at approximately 1:40 p.m., Marty Wilcox, age 36, his 27 year-old wife, Elisa, three year-old, Marty, and their two-day old newborn, Gabriel, were operating a 2008 Pontiac and traveling in the westbound direction of Missouri 52. Emily Frakes, age 19, was operating a 2002 Toyota and traveling in the eastbound direction of Missouri 52. All participants involved with this fatality crash are residents of Eldon, Missouri.

At that said time and place, Marty was traveling westbound on US 52 while Emily was traveling eastbound. Emily crossed the center line and collided with Marty’s vehicle head-on at Brown Road.

Marty and his wife, Elisa, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Miller County coroner, Rick Callahan. Their three-year old son, Marty, was later pronounced dead by Dr. Looney at the Lake Regional Hospital. Gabriel, their two-day old son, received moderate injuries from the crash and was transported by ambulance to the Lake Regional Hospital. Marty, Elisa, and Marty Jr., was taken to the Phillips Funeral home in Eldon, Missouri. Emily Brakes sustained serious injuries from the crash collision and was flown to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri to receive medical treatment for her condition.

All the occupants in both vehicles were wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Marty’s 2008 Pontiac and Emily’s 2002 Toyota received total damages and both were towed by Wood’s Towing in Eldon.

This fatality crash is undergoing investigation with the Missouri State Highway Patrol with no charges made yet.
