Semi Driver Crashes into Two Vehicles Disabled from Previous Crash

When two vehicles were disabled on the side of the roadway from a previous crash, a driver crashed into the stationary vehicles and caused serious injuries for one victim in Montgomery County.

On February 25, 2012 at approximately 3:30 A.M., 22-year-old Kelli Smith from Jefferson City, Missouri was parked in her 2003 Nissan on the shoulder of I-70 at the mile marker 170. At said time and place, Anthony Osby, age 68, from St. Louis, Missouri was heading eastbound in a 2008 Volvo Tractor Trailer. Also at said time and place, TJ Gray, age 47, from Chaparral, New Mexico was parked on the shoulder in a 2012 Freightliner.

The crash occurred when Osby crashed into Smith’s stationary vehicle, which was disabled in the roadway from a previous accident. Osby then travelled of the right side of the road and crashed into Gray’s stationary vehicle.

As a result of this crash, Smith suffered serious injuries and was life-flighted to University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Neither Osby nor Gray suffered injuries as a result of this crash.

Smith’s vehicle received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Mongomery Sales, Inc. of Montgomery City, Missouri. Osby’s Tractor Trailer received moderate damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Montgomery Sales, Inc. Gray’s Freightliner received minor damage and was driven from the scene of the crash.
