On April 13, 2012 at approximately 12:55 a.m., John Pratt, age 24 and a resident of Fairdealing, Missouri was operating a 1996 Ford and traveling in the eastbound direction. Benjamin Tanner, age 19 and a resident of Doniphan, Missouri was operating a 2003 Hyundai and traveling in the westbound direction.
At that said time and place, John Pratt was traveling eastbound on US 160, 6 miles east of Doniphan, as Benjamin Tanner was traveling westbound on the same road. The crash occurred when the two drivers approached each other and as John crossed the center line he collided with Benjamin’s vehicle head-on. Due to the impact of the collision both vehicles traveled off the roadway and caught on fire.
Ripley County coroner, Mike Jackson, pronounced John Pratt dead at the scene of the crash. Benjamin Tanner received serious injuries from the crash collision and was transported by air evacuation team to Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis, Tennessee.
John Pratt’s 1996 Ford received total damages and was towed by Jr’s Wrecker in Doniphan, Missouri. Benjamin’s 2003 Hyundai received total damages from the crash and was towed by Randy’s Towing in Doniphan, Missouri.
