Five-Car Crash in St. Louis County Causes Injuries for Six Missouri Residents

When one driver failed to stop for stalled traffic on I-70 in St. Louis County, he crashed into traffic ahead, which resulted in a five-car crash and caused minor to serious injuries for all involved.

On April 20, 2012 at approximately 9:45 P.M., 48-year-old Anthony Atkins from St. Louis, Missouri was heading west on I-70 at Lucas and Hunt Road in St. Louis County while operating a 1989 Oldsmobile. At said time and place, Charon Fowler, age 33, from St. Louis, Missouri was operating a 1998 Hyundai Elantra and heading west. Also at said time and place, David Billups, age 42, from Buffalo, New York was heading west in a 2012 Peterbilt Semi-Truck. Also at said time and place, Rashad Sullivan, age 27, from St. Louis, Missouri was operating a 2008 Hyundai Sonata and heading west. Also at said time and place, David Maywright, age 26, from Florissant, Missouri was heading west in a 1994 Honda Accord. Fowler had three passengers, namely: Janet Fowlers, age 61, from St. Louis, Missouri; Ronnie Fowler, age 35, from St. Louis, Missouri; Sanyal Harden, an infant, from St. Louis, Missouri.

The crash occurred when Atkins failed to stop for stalled traffic in the second lane. He crashed into the rear of Fowler’s vehicle. Fowler’s vehicle rotated and crashed into Sullivan’s vehicle. Fowler’s vehicle continued to rotate and crashed into Billups’ semi-truck. Meanwhile, Sullivan’s vehicle crashed into the rear of Maywright’s vehicle.

Atkins, the at-fault driver, suffered moderate injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash to Barnes Jewish hospital by Northeast EMS. Victim driver Fowler suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Barnes Jewish Hospital by Gateway EMS. Janet Fowler suffered serious injuries and was transported to Barnes Hewish Hospital by Normandy EMS. Ronnie Fowler and Sanyal Harden suffered minor injuries and were transported to Barnes Jewish Hospital by Northeast EMS. Sullivan suffered minor injuries and was transported to De Paul Hospital by Normandy EMS. Billups and Maywright did not suffer injuries as a result of this crash.

The vehicles of Atkins, Fowler and Sullivan received total damage and were towed from the scene of the crash by Doc’s Towing. Billups’ semi-truck received moderate damage and was driven from the scene. Maywright’s vehicle received moderate damage and was driven from the scene.
