Police Chase Results in Serious Injuries in Harrison County

As a police officer pursued a driver from Georgia on US 69 in Harrison County, the Georgia driver lost control of his car, crashed into an embankment, and incurred serious injuries.

On April 25, 2012 at approximately 4:00 P.M., 33-year-old Justin Hanson from Conyers, Georgia was traveling north in a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer on US 69 just five miles southwest of Bethany, Missouri. At said time and place, a police officer was northbound in pursuit of Hanson.

The crash occurred as Hanson traveled off the east side of the roadway, over corrected, and lost control of the vehicle. Hanson’s vehicle traveled off the west side of US 69, crashed into an embankment, and overturned partially ejecting the driver while landing on its wheels.

Hanson suffered serious injuries as a result of this crash. He was transported by NTA Ambulance from the scene to Harrison County Community Hospital. From Harrison County Community Hospital he was transported by Life-Flight Eagle to St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

This investigation was led by Sergeant J.J. Rongey and assisted by Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, Bethany Police Department, Missouri Conservation Agent Josh Roller, and NTA Ambulance.
