Truck Collision Kills Cole County Man

In Cole County, a vehicle collides with a parked semi-truck, which killed the driver but 3 year old passenger survives with serious injuries.

On April 12, 2012 at approximately 8:05 a.m., Jeremiah Kempker, age 30 and a resident of Henley, Missouri was operating a 1994 Chevrolet Caprice and traveling in the eastbound direction. In Kempker’s vehicle was passenger, Demyris Oliver, age 3 and a resident of Russellville, Missouri. The driver of the 2012 Freightliner is unknown and was not stated in the Missouri State Highway crash report.

At that said time and place, Jeremiah was traveling eastbound along Branch Road near St. Michaels Road in Cole County when the semi-truck was parked on the roadway. Jeremiah collided into the rear of the truck.

Rescue workers transported Kempker to Capital Region Medical Center when doctor, Doug Wheeler, pronounced him dead about an hour after the crash. According to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Kempker was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Demyris suffered serious injuries and was transported to the University Hospital in Columbia by Staff for Life.

Jeremiah Kempker’s 1994 Chevrolet Caprise received total damages and was towed by Tow Pro. The 2012 Freightliner received moderate damages and was towed by Broadway Towing.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop F. For troop F, this is their 18th fatality for 2012.
