Two Vehicles Totaled After Rear-End Crash at Stop Sign

When one driver stopped at a stop sign, she was crashed into from behind in Ralls County on US Highway 24, which sent the at-fault driver and herself to the hospital for minor to moderate injuries.

On March 21, 2012 at approximately 9:55 P.M., 28-year-old Amanda Lincoln from Monroe City, Missouri was westbound in a 2004 Toyota on US Highway 24 one mile north of Monroe City. At said time and place, Gary Ely, age 68, was heading west in a 2006 Honda.

The crash occurred when Lincoln stopped at a stop sign, and Ely crashed into the rear of her vehicle. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of this crash.

Lincoln suffered moderate injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash by Monroe City Ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital. Ely suffered minor injuries and was transported by Monroe City Ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital.

Lincoln’s Toyota received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Turpin’s Automotive & Towing of Monroe City, Missouri. Ely’s Honda received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by JC’s Auto and Truck of Monroe City.

This investigation was led by Trooper P Behrens and assisted by Corporal R Bartels, Monroe City Fire Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Department, and Ralls County Sheriff’s Department.
