Fatal Accident for One Rolla Resident

In Franklin County, after a vehicle became airborne and struck a tree, one passenger was killed and the two others were moderately injured and seriously injured.

On May 27, 2012 at approximately 3:59 p.m., Autumn Smith, age 25, was operating a 2011 Nissan Altima and traveling in the southbound direction on Missouri highway 185. Along in the vehicle with Autumn was Christopher Harrah Jr., age 5, and Christopher Harrah Sr., age 26, during the time of the crash. All participants in the crash are residents of Rolla, Missouri.

At that said time and place, Autumn was traveling southbound on Missouri highway 185, north of Little Boone Creek Road, when the accident occurred. Autumn failed to negotiate a curve on the highway when she traveled off the right side of the road. Autumn struck a driveway, became airborne, and then struck a tree.

Christopher Harrah Senior was pronounced dead by coroner, Dr. Stauder, at the scene of the crash and was transported to St. Louis County morgue by Russell Funeral Home. Christopher Harrah Junior received moderate injuries and was taken to Missouri Baptist Sullivan by Gerald EMS. Autumn Smith suffered serious injuries from the crash and was taken to Mercy Medical Center Creve Coeur by Air Evacuation.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Christopher Harrah Senior was the only participant in the crash that was not found to be wearing his seat belt during the time of the crash.

Autumn Smith’s 2011 Nissan Altima received total damages from the crash collision and was towed by Chuck’s Towing.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop C.
