On May 27, 2012 at approximately 11:53 a.m., Hassan Kulow, age 61, was operating a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo and traveling in the westbound direction of I-70. Along in the vehicle with Hassan were Ali Banda (40), Khadijo Yussuf (27), Osman Kulow (13), and Abdula Banda (0). All participants are currently Kansas City, Missouri residents.
At that said time and place, Hassan was traveling westbound on I-70 at the 98 mile marker. The crash occurred when Hassan Kulow turned into the driving lane from the passing lane and swerved to the left to avoid another vehicle, which was in the driving lane. Hassan traveled off the left side of the road, struck median cables and overturned. From the impact of the crash, the following people were ejected from the vehicle; Khadijo Yussuf, Osman Kulow, and Abdula Banda.
Hassan Kulow and his son, Osman Kulow, suffered serious injuries from the crash. Hassan was life flighted to University Hospital and his son, Osman, was transported by ambulance to the University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Ali Banda received moderate injuries and his son, Abdula Banda, sustained minor injuries. Both Ali and Abdula were transported by ambulance to the University hospital for medical treatment. Khadijo Yussuf received moderate injuries and was transported to the University Hospital in Columbia.
Hassan Kulow’s 2011 Chevrolet Aveo received total damages from the crash and was towed by Nash Towing in Booneville, Missouri.
This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop F.
