Rear-End Collision Leads to Crashing into a Church and Serious Injuries for Victims

When one driver crashed into the rear of another driver on MO 13 in St. Clair County, the at-fault driver then crashed into a church, and the victims suffered serious injuries as a result.

On May 7, 2012 at approximately 10:30 A.M., 86-year-old Eva White of Kansas City, Missouri was heading north on MO 13 one mile north of Osceola, Missouri in a 2006 Buick. White had one passenger – Wilma Hodges, age 83, of Raytown, Missouri. At said time and place, Joel Rinne, age 23, from Steinauer, Nebraska was heading north in a 1993 Dodge Ram.

The crash occurred as Rinne crashed into the rear of White’s vehicle. White’s vehicle travelled through the median into the southbound lanes and then back into the median. Rinne’s vehicle travelled off the right side of the roadway and crashed into a church.

Victim Eva White suffered serious injuries and was airlifted from the scene of the crash to Research Medical Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. White’s passenger, Wilma Hodges, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Research Medical Hospital. It has not been reported that Rinne suffered injuries as a result of this crash.

White’s vehicle received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Mike’s Towing of Collins, Missouri. Rinne’s vehicle received total damage and was removed from the scene of the crash by the owner.

This investigation was led by Trooper M. Cook of Troop D in St. Clair County.
