Car Crashes into Apartment and Seriously Injures Victim

When one 21-year-old driver runs off the right side of I-44 in Phelps County, he crashed into an apartment building and seriously injures the individual inside.

On May 31, 2012 at approximately 4:00 A.M., 21-year-old Ryan Connor from Hillsdale, Michigan was traveling east on I-44 at mile marker 195 in Phelps County while operating a 2000 Buick. At said time and approximate place, Nancy Slater, age 64, from St. James, Missouri was inside her apartment building.

The crash occurred when Connor ran off the right side of the roadway and crashed into the apartment building that Slater was inside of.

Victim Nancy Slater suffered serious injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash by ambulance to Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri. The at-fault driver, Ryan Connor, suffered moderate injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash by ambulance to Phelps County Regional Medical Center.

Connor’s vehicle received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Spurgeon’s 66 Service of St. James, Missouri.

This investigation was led by Trooper Jacob Sellers of Troop I in Phelps County.
