Clinton County Crash Sends Four and Baby to Hospital

When one driver pulled out from County Line Road in front of another driver on MO 116 in Clinton County 5 miles south of Gower, Missouri, there was a crash that resulted in moderate to serious injuries for 4 individuals and minor injuries for a one-year-old.

On May 31, 2012 at approximately 6:15 P.M., 34-year-old Jayne Iske from Edgerton, Missouri was westbound on MO 116 in a 2008 GMC Acadia. At said time, Jacob Stephenson, age 16, from Gower, Missouri was heading north on County Line Road and operating a 1996 GMC Sierra pick-up. Iske had three passengers: Jace Iske, age 1, from Edgerton, Missouri; Carolyn Knopp, age 61, from Edgerton, Missouri; Kaylee Pike, age 14, from Edgerton, Missouri.

The crash occurred when Stephenson pulled into the path of Iske on MO 116. Iske’s vehicle crashed into the right front corner of Stephenson’s vehicle. Both vehicles traveled off the northwest corner of the roadway and came to rest upright in the ditch.

One-year-old Jace Iske suffered minor injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash by NRAD Ambulance to Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Missouri. Jayne Iske suffered serious injuries and was transported from the scene by Tri County Ambulance to Heartland Regional Medical Center. Carolyn Knopp suffered moderate injuries and was transported from the scene by Tri County Ambulance to Heartland Regional Medical Center. Kaylee Pike suffered serious injuries and was transported from the scene by Tri County Ambulance to Heartland Regional Medical Center. At-fault driver Jacob Stephenson suffered serious injuries and was transported from the scene by Tri County Ambulance to Heartland Regional Medical Center.

Iske’s vehicle received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by GT Tow Service of Smithville, Missouri. Stephenson’s vehicle received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Randy’s Tow of Gower, Missouri.

This crash was investigated by Corporal Roger A. Sherman and assisted by Sergeant Jeffrey H. Thompson, Clinton County Sheriff Department, and Gower Fire Department.
