On June 27, 2012 at approximately 2:50 p.m., Timothy Renfro, age 45 and of Donnellson, Illinois was operating a 2006 Chrysler town and country van and traveling in the westbound direction on Missouri highway 63 and 136. The second vehicle involved in the crash is Marion Huffman, age 44 and of Niota, Illinois was operating a 2004 Volvo Tractor Trailer unit and traveling northbound on highway 63. The third vehicle involved in the crash is 2003 Ford Taurus and traveling in the southbound direction of highway 63 and 136.
At that said time and place, Timothy was traveling westbound on Missouri highway 63 and 136 at the intersection of North Junction Lancaster. The crash occurred when Timothy failed to yield and pulled into the path of Marion Huffman, which caused Marion’s vehicle to cross the center line. Then, Marion’s tractor struck Mary Hurley’s vehicle and continued off the west side of highway 63 through a fence and into a field. A witness reported that Timothy Renfro was ejected from his van and landed in the middle of highway 63.
Timothy Renfro was pronounced dead by the Schuyler County coroner, Douglas Norman, and then transported from the scene of the crash by Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Marion Huffman received minor injuries and was transported by Schuyler County ambulance to Northeast Regional Hospital in Kirksville, Missouri for medical treatment. Mary Hurley also received minor injuries and was life flighted to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
Timothy Renfro’s 2006 Chrysler van and Mary Hurley’s 2003 Ford Taurus received total damages and were both towed from the scene of the crash by Lakeside Towing in Memphis, Missouri. Marion Huffman’s 2004 Volvo received extensive damages from the fatal crash and was towed from the scene of the crash by Lakeside Towing.
This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop B, Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office, Schuyler County emergency personnel, and Modot. This is troop B’s 18th fatality for 2012.
