On June 5, 2012 at approximately 5:00 P.M., 47-year-old Timothy Cherry from Fairfax, Missouri was heading north on M-113 at 210th Street 2 miles from Quitman, Missouri while operating a 1992 Toyota pick-up. At said time, Catherine Gast, age 19, from Skidmore, Missouri was heading west on 210th Street in a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire.
The crash occurred when Gast failed to stop at a stop sign before pulling out onto M-113. She pulled into the path of Cherry and crashed into his vehicle. Cherry’s vehicle came to rest in the roadway, blocking both lanes. Gast’s vehicle came to rest on the north side of 210th Street west of M-113.
Cherry suffered moderate injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash to St. Francis Hospital in Maryville, Missouri by Nodaway County Ambulance. Gast suffered minor injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash by a private vehicle to St. Francis Hospital.
Cherry’s vehicle received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Boyle’s Tow of Maryville, Missouri. Gast’s vehicle received total damage and was removed from the scene of the crash by the owner.
This investigation was led by Trooper H. G. Vernon and assited by the Nodaway County Sheriff and West Nodaway Fire and Rescue.
