Two-Vehicle Collision Injuries Quincy Residents

In Audrain County, a two-car collision occurs after one vehicle fails to complete its stop and injures the three men involved.

On June 8, 2012 at approximately 6:35 p.m., Bryan Stokes, age 39 and of Quincy, Illinois was operating a 2009 GMC Denali and traveling in the southbound direction on US 54. Kent Sturhahn, age 40 and of Quincy, Illinois was the only passenger in Bryan Stokes vehicle during the time of the crash. Christopher Holmberg, age 25 and of Warrensberg, Missouri was operating a 2008 Mazda M6 and traveling in the westbound direction on US 54.

At that said time and place, Bryan Stokes was traveling southbound while Christopher Holmberg was traveling in the westbound direction. The crash occurred when Christopher Holmberg failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Highway 19 and US 54 north junction and was struck in the passenger side by Bryan Stokes. Both vehicles then traveled off the roadway and came to a final rest in a field.

Bryan Stokes received minor injuries and his passenger, Kent Sturhahn, received moderate injuries as both were transported to the University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Christopher Holmberg suffered serious injuries and was flown by the Staff for Life helicopter to the University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri for medical treatment.

Christopher Holmberg’s 2008 Mazda received extensive damages from the crash and according to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, his vehicle left the scene of the crash. Bryan Stoke’s 2009 GMC Denali received total damages from the collision and was towed by Ben’s Auto Body in Mexico, Missouri.

This crash collision was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop F.
