Crash on U.S. 65 Highway

In Pettis County, two cars are involved in an accident that results in serious and moderate injuries for the occupants.

On July 10, 2012 at approximately 3:10 p.m., Casey Short, age 18 and from Slater, Missouri was operating a 2003 Pontiac and traveling in the northbound direction on Missouri highway 65. TJ Sullivan, age 66 and of Marshall, Missouri was Casey’s passenger during the time of the crash. Rebecca Manuel, age 47 and of Houstonia, Missouri was operating a 2002 Toyota and traveling in the northbound direction on Missouri Highway 65.

At that said time and place, the crash occurred as both vehicles were traveling in the northbound direction on U.S. Missouri highway 65 when Casey swerved to avoid Rebecca’s vehicle and over corrected, striking her vehicle. Due to the impact of the crash Casey’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, traveled down an embankment, and overturned several times before coming to a rest on its top.

Casey Short received moderate injuries from the crash and was transported to Bothwell Hospital by APSI ambulance. Casey’s passenger, TJ Sullivan, received serious injuries from the auto-crash and was life flighted to the University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Rebecca Manuel was uninjured and did not seek any medical attention.

All participants in this crash were reported to be wearing their seat belts during the time of the accident.

Casey Short’s 2003 Pontiac received total damages from the crash and was towed by State Fair towing. Rebecca Manuel’s 2002 Toyota received minor damages from the crash and was capable to drive from the scene.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop A and the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office.
