Motorcycle Crash on I-44 Injuries Two Wisconsin Residents

When one motorcyclist crashed into the rear of another, the motorcycle became stuck and was pulled behind causing moderate to serious injuries for both occupants.

On July 28, 2012 at approximately 10:45 P.M., 25-year-old Leonard Logan from Highland Park, Michigan was heading west on I-44 three miles west of Lebanon in Laclede County while operating a 2013 Hino 268. At said time and place, Charles Vandenplas, age 55, from Clintonville, Wisconsin was heading west on a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe. Vandenplas had one passenger – Jo Jolene from Clintonville, Wisconsin.

The crash occurred when Vandenplas crashed into the towed unit of Logan’s Hino. Vandenplas’s Hyundai then became stuck to it and was pulled behind until both came to a controlled stop.

Jolene, Vandenplas’s passenger, suffered serious injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Vandenplas suffered moderate injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. It was not reported that Logan suffered injuries as a result of this crash.

Logan’s Hino received no damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Steve’s Towing. Vandenplas’s Hyundai received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Steve’s Towing.

This crash was investigated by Trooper C. Stallcup of Troop I in Laclede County.
