On July 1, 2012 at approximately 12:06 p.m., Rose Gochal, age 89 and of Mountain Grove, Missouri was operating a 1995 Chevrolet van and traveling east on US Missouri highway 61. Rose Gochal had only one passenger in her vehicle during the time of the crash, Raymond Gochal, age 64. James Sorrell, age 35 and of Urbana, Missouri was operating a 2012 Dodge pick-up truck and traveling in the westbound direction on Missouri highway 61. The passengers along in the vehicle with James Sorrell were Cameron Adams (9), Brienna Sorrell (3), James W. Sorrell (5), and Karrie Sorrell (25). Kevin Enderle, age 49 and of West Plains, Missouri was operating a 2001 Pont Sunfire and traveling in the westbound direction on US highway 61.
At that said time and place, the crash occurred as Rose Gochal failed to yield at the crossover and drove onto the highway and was struck in the side by westbound vehicle, James Sorrell, causing James Sorrell’s vehicle to strike another westbound vehicle, Kevin Enderle.
Rose and Raymond Gochal were pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash by Texas County coroner, Thomas Whitaker. Rose and Raymond were transported to Elliott Gentry Funeral Home in Cabool, Missouri. James, Karrie, Brieanna Sorrell, and Cameron Adams all received moderate injuries from the crash and were transported by Texas County ambulance to Ozark’s Medical Center. James W. Sorrell received serious injuries and was taken by air evacuation to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Kevin Enderle received moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Ozark’s Medical Center.
Rose Gochal’s 1995 Chevrolet van, James Sorrell’s 2012 Dodge pick-up truck, and Kevin Enderle’s 2001 Sunfire received total damages and were towed by Cabool Towing.
