Fatal Crash in Moniteau County

One driver is pronounced dead and the other driver is moderately injured after the first driver crossed the center line and crashed into the second vehicle in Moniteau County.

On August 8, 2012 at approximately 5:30 a.m., 59-year-old Deborah Kleffner from Eldon, Missouri was heading north on MO 87 North of Route F in Moniteau County while operating a 2000 Toyota Sienna. At said time and place, Steven Duncan, age 49, from Jamestown, Missouri was heading north while operating a 1995 Chevrolet 2500 truck.
The crash occurred when northbound Kleffner crossed the center line and crashed into Duncan, who was heading south.

Duncan suffered moderate injuries and was transported from the scene of the crash by ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City, Missouri. Kleffner was transported from the scene of the crash to University Hospital by Staff for Life. She was pronounced dead at approximately 7:03 a.m. at University Hospital by Dr. J. Quick.

Duncan’s Chevrolet received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Broadway Wrecker of Jefferson City, Missouri. Kleffner’s Toyota also received total damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Stockton Towing of California, Missouri.

This crash was investigated by Corporal R. R. Ryerson of Troop F in Moniteau County. Ryerson was assisted by Trooper N. R. Atkinson and Trooper B. H. Salmons.
