Missouri Motorcyclist is Fatally Wounded in Jefferson County Head-on Crash

Eureka, Missouri man was fatally injured when another vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and struck him head-on.

On August 15, 2012 at approximately 8:40 a.m., 64 year old Allyn Chiolero of Eureka, Missouri was operating a 2009 Harley Davidson Soft Tail traveling northbound on Route W, approximately 88 feet south of River Ends Drive.

At that same time and place, 68 year old Kenneth Holt of Eureka, Missouri was operating a 1997 Dodge Caravan traveling southbound on Route W. Holt failed to negotiate a curve to the right, crossed the center line and struck Chiolero head-on.

Motorcyclist Chiolero was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Scott Kavanagh with Eureka Fire Department and was taken to the St. Louis County Morgue by Schaeffer’s Mortuary Service. The at-fault driver, Kenneth Holt, sustained only minor injuries in the crash at was taken to St. Clare Medical Center by Eureka Ambulance. Both drivers were wearing their safety devices at the time of the crash.

Chiolero’s motorcycle sustained extensive damage in the crash and was towed from the scene by Northwest Towing. The at-fault vehicle sustained moderate damage and was also towed from the scene of the crash by Northwest Towing. Neither driver possessed insurance coverage for their vehicles at the time of the crash.

This crash was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper C.P. Verdone of Troop C.
