Head-on Collision in Johnson County

In Johnson County, a man from Warrensburg dies after he is involved in a head-on collision that seriously injuries three other passengers.

On September 23, 2012 at approximately 12:53 a.m., Brandon Morrow, age 27 from Warrensburg, Missouri was operating a 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass. In another vehicle, Zaya Brooks (18), was operating a 1995 Lexus. Sevillya Hudson, age 19, and Toni Nelson, age 21, were the passengers along with Zaya Brooks during the time of the collision. Zaya Brooks, Sevillya Hudson, and Toni Nelson are all residents of Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

At that said time and place, Brandon Morrow was traveling eastbound while Zaya Brooks was in the westbound direction of U.S. highway 50. The crash occurred as Brandon Morrow was in the eastbound direction in westbound lanes of the highway and traveled over a slight hill crest. Brandon Morrow collided with Zaya Brooks head-on.

Brandon Morrow was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Johnson County Sheriff, Heiss. Brandon was then taken to Sweeney Phillips Funeral Home. Toni Nelson, Zaya Brooks, and Sevillya Hudson all suffered serious injuries from the head-on collision and were transported to Research Hospital by the Johnson County EMS.

Brandon Morrow’s 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass and Zaya Brook’s 1995 Lexus both received total damages from the head-on collision and were towed by B & L Towing.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop A, Warrensburg Police Department, Johnson County Fire and EMS, and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
