Unsafe Lane Change Wrongfully Kills Kansas City Woman

In Platte County, a Kansas City woman is wrongfully killed after the driver of a vehicle neglected to change lanes properly.

On November 6, 2012 at approximately 7:18 a.m., Michael Campbell, age 61 from Kansas City, Missouri was operating a 2001 Ford. Rim, age 50 from Kansas City, Missouri was operating a 2012 Honda. Donald Morrison, age 48 from Butler, Missouri was operating a 2008 Chevrolet. None of vehicles reported to have any passengers during the time of the crash.

At that said time and place, Michael Campbell and Bok Rim were traveling in the southbound direction while Donald Morrison was traveling northbound on Interstate 635 at Horizons Parkway. The crash occurred as Michael Campbell made an unsafe lane change and collided with Bok Rim’s vehicle. Due to the impact of the collision, it caused Bok Rim’s vehicle to travel off the left side of the roadway, cross the median, and enter the northbound lanes of traffic. Donald Morrison, whom was traveling in the northbound lanes, collided with Bok Rim’s vehicle.

Bok Rim received serious injuries and was transported to North Kansas City Hospital by EMS where she was pronounced dead by Dr. Gengler. Donald Morrison received serious injuries from the collision and was also transported by EMS to the North Kansas City Hospital. Michael Campbell was uninjured and did not seek medical treatment. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, all participants involved were wearing their seat belts during the time of the collision.

Bok Rim’s 2012 Honda and Donald Morrison’s 2008 Chevrolet received total damages and both were towed by Gladrent’s Towing. Michael Campbell’s 2001 Ford received minor damages and Michael drove his vehicle from the scene of the crash.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop A and the Riverside Police Department. This is troop A’s 53rd fatal accident and 57th fatality for 2012.
