Two Teens Dead in Crash Collision

In Phelps County, two teenagers are killed when the vehicle runs off the roadway and overturns.

On December 15, 2012 at approximately 12:30 a.m., Nikki Stanley, age 17 from St. James, Missouri was operating a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt. Cory Rose, age 21, and Alexa Bartlett, age 18, were passengers in Nikki’s vehicle during the time of the crash. All passengers were residents of St. James, Missouri.

At that said time, Nikki Stanley was traveling in the eastbound direction on I-44 at the 188.6 mile marker in Rolla. The crash occurred as Nikki lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the right side of the roadway, collided with several trees, and then overturned. Nikki Stanley and Alexa Bartlett were both ejected from the vehicle.

Nikki Stanley and Alexa Bartlett were pronounced dead at the scene by Phelps County coroner, Lenox Jones, and then taken to the Phelps County Regional Medical Center Morgue. Cory Rose received serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Phelps County Regional Hospital. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, none of the passengers were wearing their seat belts during the time of the crash.

Nikki Stanley’s 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt received total damages and was towed by C & C Towing of Rolla.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop I. Nikki Stanley and Alexa Bartlett are the 38th and 39th fatalities for Troop I in 2012.
