On December 28, 2012 at approximately 10:05 a.m., Annie Thomas, age 45 from St. Louis, Missouri was operating a 1998 Plymouth Neon. Talbert Brooks, age 48 from St. Louis, Missouri was operating a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am. Aaron Cook, age 30 from West Alton, Missouri was operating a 1997 Peterbuilt.
At that said date and time, all vehicles were traveling northbound on I-270 at James S. McDonnell Boulevard. The collision occurred as Annie’s vehicle was experiencing a malfunction and was being pushed by Talbert’s vehicle on I-270 in the second lane. Aaron Cook was traveling in the westbound direction on I-270 and tried to avoid a collision with Talbert’s vehicle but instead Aaron collided with the rear of both vehicles.
Talbert Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene by Florissant EMS personnel and then transported by the St. Louis County medical examiner to the St. Louis County morgue. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Talbert Brooks was wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision.
Aaron Cook and Annie Thomas were uninjured in the crash.
Annie Thomas’ 1998 Plymouth Neon and Talbert Brooks’ 2002 Pontiac Grand Am received total damages from the collision. Both vehicles were towed by Hood’s Towing. Aaron Cook’s 1997 Peterbuilt was moderately damaged in the crash and was towed by Bolin’s Tow.
This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop C.
