On January 6, 2012 at approximately 2:15 p.m., William Stafford, age 67 from Laddonia, Missouri was operating a 1998 Ford Explorer. His wife Nancy, age 62, was the only passenger inside the vehicle during the time of the crash. Ibrahim Bourakba, age 32 from Baton Rouge, Louisiana was operating 2010 Volvo tractor trailer.
At that said date and time, William Stafford was traveling in the westbound direction while Ibrahim Bourakba was traveling in the eastbound direction on US Highway 54 at Route U. The collision occurred as Ibrahim attempted to avoid a collision with an unknown vehicle and traveled across the center line into westbound lanes of traffic. William Stafford attempted to avoid collision with Ibrahim’s vehicle and drove off the right side of the roadway. The front left of Ibrahim’s vehicle collided with the front left of William’s vehicle.
William and Nancy Stafford were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Pike County coroner, Jim Turner, and then were transported to Mudd-Veach Funeral Home. Ibrahim Bourakba received moderate injuries from the collision and was taken to Mercy Hospital by the Creve Coeur air evacuation helicopter. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, all occupants involved in this crash were wearing their seat belts.
This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop C.
