On January 10, 2013 at approximately 7:50 a.m., Dennis Elders, age 51 from Ironton, Missouri was operating a 2001 Chevrolet 1500. Dennis’ wife Sue Elders, age 48, was the only passenger in his vehicle. Christopher Pratte, age 31 from Bonne Terre, Missouri was operating a 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier. Mark LaPlant, age 35 from Festus, Missouri was operating a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis.
At that said date and time, Dennis Elders and Christopher Pratte were traveling in the northbound direction on US Highway 67 at Meyer Road. Mark LaPlant was traveling in the southbound direction. The crash occurred as Dennis Elders was northbound on US 67 in the left lane and was approaching Meyer Road. Christopher Pratte was northbound on US 67 and in the right lane behind Dennis’ vehicle. Mark LaPlant was southbound on US 67 in the left lanes of traffic. Mark LaPlant made a left turn into the path of northbound traffic and Dennis collided with his vehicle. After impact, Dennis’ vehicle spun clockwise into the right lanes of traffic and collided with Christopher’s vehicle. Mark LaPlant then traveled of the east edge of the roadway.
Dennis and Sue Elders were moderately injured in the crash and they were transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center by Joachim Plattin ambulance district. Christopher Pratte was moderately injured and was transported by private personnel to Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Mark LaPlant received serious injuries and was transported by Joachim Plattin ambulance district to the Jefferson Regional Medical Center. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, all passengers involved in this crash were wearing their seat belts except for Sue Dennis.
Dennis Elder’s 2001 Chevrolet 1500 and Mark LaPlant’s 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis received total damages from the crash. Christopher Pratte’s 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier received extensive damages. All vehicles were towed by Pippin’s Towing.
This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop C.
