Icy Roads Increases Roadside Crashes

In Daviess County, four people of Hamilton, Missouri were injured after their vehicle lost control on a snow and ice covered roadway, overturning.

On February 2, 2013 at approximately 10:28 a.m., Sarah McBee, age 34 from Hamilton, Missouri was operating a 1995 GMC Suburban. Haley Neill (13), Kimberly (10) and Hali Dinwiddie (13) were passengers in Sarah’s vehicle at the time of the crash.

At that said date and time, Sarah McBee was traveling in the eastbound on Route M and 4 miles south of Gallatin. The crash occurred as Sarah was traveling along Route M when she lost control of her vehicle on the snow and ice covered roadway. Sarah crossed the center line and began skidding sideways, and then she crossed the center line again and traveled off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle overturned multiple times and collided with a fence before coming to a rest on its wheels in an open field facing west.

Sarah McBee was transported to Liberty Hospital by the Caldwell County ambulance with serious injuries. Haley Neill received moderate injuries and was also transported by Caldwell County ambulance to Liberty Hospital. Kimberly and Hali Dinwiddie received minor injuries and were transported by Daviess County ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, neither the driver nor the passengers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

Sarah McBee’s 1995 GMC Suburban received total damages and was towed by Bridgeman’s of Altamont.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop H, Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, and the Gallatin First Responders.
