Poplar Bluff Man Killed in Collision

In Butler County, a man of Poplar Bluff is wrongfully killed after another driver loses control of their vehicle and collides into his.

On January 29, 2013 at approximately 6:00 p.m., Steve Seabaugh, age 22 from Poplar Bluff, Missouri was operating a 1999 Toyota Four Runner. Vanessa Seabaugh, age 18 from Poplar Bluff, was the only passenger in Steve’s vehicle during the time of the crash. Danny Ward, age 60 from Poplar Bluff, Missouri was operating a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt.

At that said date and time, Danny Ward was traveling in the southbound direction as Steve Seabaugh was in the northbound direction on US 67 and one mile north of Poplar Bluff. The collision occurred as Steve Seabaugh lost control of his vehicle, crossed over the median, began to overturn, and then collided with Danny’s vehicle. Danny crossed through the median and came to a final rest on the shoulder of northbound US 67.

Danny Ward was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Butler County coroner, Jim Akers, and was transported to Poplar Bluff Regional Morgue. Steve and Vanessa Seabaugh received moderate injuries and were taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, all occupants except Danny Ward were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

Steve Seabaugh’s 1999 Toyota Four Runner and Danny Ward’s 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt received total damages and were towed by Rushin Wrecker Service.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop E. This is Troop E’s 4th fatality for 2013.
