Rear-end Collision with Snow Plow Injures Three

In Franklin County, three passengers are injured after the driver of the vehicle collides with the rear of a snow plow.

On February 23, 2013 at approximately 2:00 a.m., William Kitson, age 30 from Cuba, Missouri was operating a 1994 Buick Century. Chris Counts, age 35, and Charity Woolsey, age 34, and both from Sullivan, Missouri were the only passengers in William’s vehicle at the time of the crash. Charles Corbett, age 49 from Steelville, Missouri was operating a 2001 4900 International Snow Plow truck.

At that said date and time, Charles Corbett and William Kitson were both traveling in the northbound direction on Highway 185 north and at the I-44 overpass. The collision occurred as Charles was clearing snow from the roadway and William neglected to stop in time before colliding with the rear of Charles’ vehicle.

William Kitson received serious injuries and was transported by Life Flight to Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur in critical condition. Chris Counts was moderately injured and Charity Woolsey received minor injuries from the crash and both were taken by Missouri Baptist ambulance to Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Charles Corbett was not injured in this crash and neither William Kitson nor his passengers were wearing their seat belts during the time of the collision.

Charles Corbett’s 2001 4900 Snow Plow truck received moderate damages and was driven from the scene of the crash. William Kitson’s 1994 Buick Century received total damages and was towed by Chuck’s Wrecker Service.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop C.
