In St. Charles County, reported problems of icy patches on the highway result in the death of one woman that was thrown from her vehicle.

On March 27, 2012 at approximately 6:50 a.m., the fatality and crash of a 53-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, occurred on Missouri Highway 364.

Spokesman, Marty Limbert, for the St. Charles County Ambulance District said that the 53-year-old woman wasn’t wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.

After the crash, the woman was found about 30 feet from her vehicle and suffered severe head injuries.

The Missouri Department of Transportation said that the westbound lanes of Highway 364 remained closed for two hours after the crash. Police and Missouri Highway Patrol investigated the fatality crash and removed the vehicle’s wreckage from the roadway.

Nearby, another crash about the same time had closed the right lane of eastbound Harvester Road at Highway 364.

The area where the 53-year-old woman died was near the scene of another serious crash that occurred on Monday night when a motorist lost control on an icy patch. In that crash, Nicholas Custer, age 23 from St. Peters, was heading eastbound on Highway 94 when he lost control of his vehicle on the ice-covered road. Nicholas Custer’s vehicle went over a cement bridge wall and became airborne before landing in the westbound lanes of Highway 364. Nicholas Custer was taken to St. Louis Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur and was reported not wearing his seat belt during the time of the crash.
